Rey's warehouse- Friday afternoon

Rey had visitors. She was thrilled to have visitors. She adored her visitors. It was just that this year was going to be more complicated.

She'd come back to the island to train with Kanan, who'd had to leave on short notice, and Anakin was kind enough to take her on so she could stay. But as her teacher at home was his daughter, who had complicated feelings there and had just suffered a lot of terrible loss and trauma all at once, Rey just… hadn't mentioned that change for nearly a year. And when she finally came clean, while Leia had appreciated her reasoning, she really had not appreciated anything else about the situation. Naturally this meant that she came this weekend, which meant Rey had had to warn Anakin ahead of time, because that would have been the worst situation to walk into without knowing.

And the rest of Rey's guests didn't know about any of that, though there was a decent chance they'd figure it out if they so much as heard Anakin's name on radio.

So yeah. Complicated weekend.

When she brought Leia to the warehouse to at least show her where she was doing her training, she made sure to have a lot some rum for the squirrels.

It was, to Leia, a lot like a little kid showing off their toys to a family friend who didn't get to visit that often. It was also maybe a little like Rey was trying to make a really good impression. She heard about the woodchucks- all right- and the drones, and because it looked like Rey was dying to get to it and that was adorable, Leia gestured to the obstacle course and said, "And what is this monstrosity?"

"This is the obstacle course," Rey said, grinning. She had been dying to get to it. It was ridiculous and she loved it. "It's the second incarnation. This one has quicksand and weather controls."

"This might be an obvious question," Leia said slowly, "but why do you need quicksand?"

Hey, it was actually much more of a problem in Rey's life than it was for most people.

"I don't know that it serves an actual purpose, but it's definitely something I'm trying to avoid," she said, and shrugged. "Master Skywalker had a lot of fun going overboard."

Leia almost- almost flinched at the name. She'd never heard anyone besides Luke be referred to that way.

And now it was casually being used in reference to her father that she'd never known without a mask, and used in conjunction with the word "fun."

Rey caught… if not the flinch, then whatever that was, and realized her mistake.

"I'm sorry," she said.

She also didn't know what else to actually call him?

Leia shook her head.

"You have nothing to worry about," she assured her. "I want to hear more about the temperature controls."

This wasn't fine, but she could handle it.

Oh so NFB other than his arrival

Anakin had done a quick circuit around the party in the park, not exactly stalling, but...stalling.

He finally got to the warehouse and picked up, through the Force, the presence of someone he hadn't felt in a long, long time. He closed his eyes and breathed, steadying himself, and then gave the squirrels a very strong push to be somewhere else, and then entered.

"Rey?"

"Yeah," Rey called, not sure if that sudden rush of nerves was her own or someone else's.

...And then she realized that she didn't know if she should introduce them or not.

So she went with, "I was just showing Leia around."

Anakin nodded. "And what does she think?"

"It's a challenge," Leia said evenly, like this wasn't completely weird for her.

She'd never seen his face. She'd always been okay leaving him at being the person who'd tortured her and Han on different occasions. It was quite a disconnect right now.

"You're welcome to try it as well," Anakin said like that would make this less awkward.

"I don't think I'll be doing that," Leia said, since she was fairly certain she wouldn't ever be physically up to that sort of thing again. "Rey, would you excuse us?"

Whether or not it had been a good idea for Beau to leave Jester to her own devices for a little while, that was exactly what had happened. She'd come down to the warehouse district on Beau's recommendation, something about how she'd be totally into the murals, and then gotten a bit distracted handwavily, with permission leaving dick drawings all over Barry's warehouse.

But Beau had also mentioned that Rey had a warehouse down here, so Jester was in search of that, too.

Don't ask how she'd gotten a rum-bearing squirrel to point her in the right direction. She was adorable and she had her ways, and now she was knocking at the door, okay?

And while Rey had visitors, she wasn't exactly expecting anyone aside from them to wander around this way, so she went to open the door and smiled when she saw who was there. "Hi!"

"Hi, Rey!" Jester beamed at her. Hey, these were much nicer circumstances than the last time they'd seen each other, right? "Beau told me where I could find you. She said this is where you do all your really cool stuff?"

"It is," Rey said with a little laugh, letting her in. "We recently got an upgrade."

"Oh my gosh, this is super cool," Jester breathed, her eyes lighting up with enthusiasm the way they did with ... pretty much everything, to be honest. She had her sketchbook in hand almost immediately to draw the obstacle course (and included a little cartoon Rey doing a really elaborate series of flips). "How have you been?"

"Good." More or less! "I should probably thank you personally for the weapons rack."

Which she once tried to use as a weapon itself.

Duke hadn't been by Rey's warehouse in a long time, but that didn't mean he couldn't figure out that was where she'd probably be. So he brought Gloria along once she'd handwavily gotten settled in.

"So this is the one you've been teaching yoga?" Gloria asked as he knocked on the door.

"Yep."

"And she's from space."

"Desert planet, technically."

"With those weird-ass bird things on your boat."

Duke nodded.

"You really know how to pick places to live, kitten."

"Right?"

It was a stressful day and Rey couldn't talk about it! Thank you for coming!

She opened the door and greeted him with a, "Hey," before she settled on the other person. "Are you Gloria?"

"Yep, that's me." Gloria nodded. She was about as short as Duke was tall, but they were pretty well matched in attitude. "And you're Rey. Hear you've been helping my boy here keep his shit together."

"Meditate," Duke corrected.

"I said what I said."

"It's in exchange for him helping me so much," Rey smiled, opening the door wider. "Come on in. Leia's here."

And marvel at the obstacle course that had gotten kind of insane since Duke had last seen it.

"Great," Duke said, smiling back. "I've been looking forward to meeting her."

Gloria was busy checking out that obstacle course. "Hot damn. That sucker'd make a marine cry." She looked Duke over. "You, too, probably." Then Rey. "Guessing you do okay, though."

"I'm getting there," Rey admitted, leading them over to the little sitting area made of crates. "The goal is to not end up in the quicksand."

She had to end up in the quicksand, just to test it out.
