MCA Lobby, Monday Afternoon
The weekend ended much too quickly by Danny's estimation. It almost reminded him of when his custody was limited to those too short, too infrequent days when he'd first arrived in Hawaii.
Which meant the best way to not focus too hard on that was to do some work.
"I don't even know what that means," he grumbled, looking at the little AC control looking device outside that one weird room. It was the holosuite, but he was trying to maintain his sanity by not acknowledging that.
The phrase 'beanbag chair error' flashed on the little screen some more.

Adding to her doubt about this whole situation: Vought should have probably set up a living situation for her, right? Like, let alone the dimension stuff. That was just how, like, work relocation stuff went.
Whatever. Annie needed to figure this out sooner than later, so here she was, dropping her bag on the ground by her feet and calling out a little, "Hello?"

You poor, poor schmuck.

So diplomatic.

"Yeah, that covers it," Danny replied with a sage nod. "Don't think I've run into snow monsters yet, but I've only been stuck here a few months."
no subject
She paused, and added, "Did you say you're stuck here?"

Danny glanced around too. "No, just the island. You'll see how it sometimes just does things."

This was the weirdest day, and this guy seemed too normal to be saying weird haunted-house-caretaker crap like that.

Had she landed herself in some kind of giant Supe experiment?

"A weird one," he replied. "Everyone pretty much accepts it as normal."
When it was not.

"Danny, by the way," he said, offering a hand. "Sorry for jumping on in on the crazy here before even introducing myself."

It didn't help that Danny was just so fun to mess with.
"You need anything, I'm in that apartment down on the main floor. Or at the Trooper Station."
no subject
"Oh, are you a cop?" she asked, perking up a little at that.

And look at him calling Hawaii home without even wincing!

CBS police procedural levelcrime just showed up around them. "What'd you do back home?"Because he was already gonna have to deal with low-rent-Ratman Diego in Baltimore, you know.

Look, she was learning to ask! She couldn't remember who was working in Hawaii these days, but she was willing to lay heavy odds that Danny didn't know them, anyway.

"No, that's a thing I've only heard of here," he sighed. "I think if you do that in Baltimore, people might freak out."
Or start fan Instagrams.
no subject
"Oh, no, I don't want to freak anyone out," Annie said, wincing. "Including you, sorry about that. I was doing pretty good on the 'normal' thing for a minute there. I promise I'm a good tenant."
no subject
"No, no," he waved her off. "It's a me thing. I have this partner who only thinks he's a superhero. Much to my dismay when people start shooting at us."

Well. Maybe Wo Fat. But he was pretty evil, so.

He nodded at the right door, before opening it for her to check out the apartment. Not that there were terribly many options. Sorry for the small town-ness, Annie.
no subject
Not that it really mattered, but she liked to know what she had around her, in case.
no subject
Was that a job? He was so lost on it.
"You know what, it's not important. Already waived the first month for the last couple people, so you get that deal too."
no subject
She waggled a hand in a gesture of non-commitment, because that was clearly not really going to take, here. "Annie doesn't have a job, but my alter ego does, you know? Anyway, you don't have to worry, I'm, like, totally collectible."
no subject
"Don't worry about it. Get settled and try not to let the place drive you nuts."
Maybe have the occasional anxiety attack like Danny did! Because her first bit of weirdness was coming up fast with the weekend. Hopefully she liked have an daemon around?
