There was still some cleanup happening as Kitty and Tino tried to clean up all the little pumpkins from the floor.

"All right," Kitty said, "after you opened the first thing and they all spilled out, why would you keep checking everything else to see if the exact same thing happened?"

Tino just shrugged.

When Rosa came in and leaned into the Rosa-shaped spot on the bar, she looked a bit more determined and focused that usual for her Tuesday night drinking.

"Beer me and rum the squirrels, Kitty," she said. "Next week's Halloween."

And sure, they technically had offices where they could discuss school-related things, but this had alcohol.

Well, that was going to make Kitty's day better. "Coming right up," she said, pouring out a shot or two for the squirrels and setting it on the far end of the bar.

And then she came back to get Rosa's beer and slide it over. "It is. I feel like I should have given them homework to do during break."

"Yeah," said Rosa, "because that's what they'd all love during a vacation, homework..."

There was a pause, a suspicious narrowing of her eyes.

"You weren't the kind of kid that actually loved homework during a break, were you?"

Rosa actually thought about it, too, but hers was just a little trickier to pull off when travelling around foreign countries.

"I didn't really have traditional schooling to be able to answer that," she admitted. "But superhero kids might've been into it."

Rosa considered at least one of those superhero kids that had in common.

"You're probably not wrong," she allowed. "Anyway, I break it to them next week, your superhero this'll get Monday for a headstart."

"Mwaha," Kitty actually said aloud. "I'm looking forward to it. I gave them surveillance homework this week, let's see how that pans out."

"Now I wish I thought to have them.docsome sort of scouting work or something," said Rosa, who was not going to mention that laugh, even though she probably SHOULD. "Let them start picking out the suspicious ones early."

"Though my kids won't know they're suspicious early till Monday," Kitty said. "They might be better with whatever your class today was."

"Lockpicking," Rosa snorted slightly. "Not as big a draw this year as in previous years," she made a face at that, realizing that previous years included several at this point, how?, "so it'll be interesting if half the competition is just hoping to find the prize by knocking politely."

"Maybe the most badass thing is manners," Kitty teased.

This conversation was seriously hitting peak nerd levels here, Kitty, you were seriously bringing your A-game tonight, weren't you?

"...and the friends we made along the way?" Rosa asked dryly.

"Psh, there are no friends in the Halloween heist," Kitty said. "Except you and me, because I just want to see what happens."

It was hard to be crazy competitive when they had that much student overlap.
