Caritas; Wednesday [10/21].
So even though Summer had stumbled across a really spectcaularly disgusting jello recipe that had all the elements she liked in a gross jello (canned cream soup! way too much mayonnaise! jellies cranberries!) and was just begging to have vodka added to it, she was just going to have to put that on hold, because Annie had said she might swing by and that she'd never had a jello shot before and so Summer needed to make sure her first time was legit and had some real classics, and steering away from any sort of autumnal flavors because today was the kind of day where she figured everyone could use a break.
Even if she totally loved the extra PSL, and it could definitely be blamed for fueling today's particular wide range of shot options...

The Stage - 10/21.
Re: The Stage - 10/21.
So, Annie leaned into her own fairly pop-music-ish vibe and picked a song that probably everyone in the bar knew the words to, and that reminded her of high school.
"I threw a wish in the well
Don't ask me, I'll never tell
I looked at you as it fell
And now you're in my way
I'd trade my soul for a wish
Pennies and dimes for a kiss
I wasn't looking for this
But now you're in my way
Your stare was holding
Ripped jeans, skin was showin'
Hot night, wind was blowin'
Where you think you're going baby?
Hey, I just met you and this is crazy
But here's my number, so call me maybe
It's hard to look right at you baby
But here's my number, so call me maybe
Hey I just met you and this is crazy
But here's my number, so call me maybe
And all the other boys try to chase me
But here's my number, so call me maybe
You took your time with the call
I took no time with the fall
You gave me nothing at all
But still you're in my way
I beg and borrow and steal
At first sight and it's real
I didn't know I would feel it
But it's in my way
Your stare was holding
Ripped jeans, skin was showin'
Hot night, wind was blowin'
Where you think you're going baby?
Hey, I just met you and this is crazy
But here's my number, so call me maybe
It's hard to look right at you baby
But here's my number, so call me maybe
Hey I just met you and this is crazy
But here's my number, so call me maybe
And all the other boys try to chase me
But here's my number, so call me maybe
Before you came into my life
I missed you so bad
I missed you so bad
I missed you so so bad
Before you came into my life
I missed you so bad
And you should know that
I missed you so so bad
It's hard to look right at you baby
But here's my number, so call me maybe
Hey, I just met you and this is crazy
But here's my number, so call me maybe
And all the other boys try to chase me
But here's my number, so call me maybe
Before you came into my life
I missed you so bad
I missed you so bad
I missed you so so bad
Before you came into my life
I missed you so bad
And you should know that
So call me maybe!"
Her voice was throatier and less...effervescent than Carly's, but she still pretty much nailed every note. And danced a bit throughout, which she would blame on the tequila, but she probably would've done it anyway.
The Bar - 10/21.
Re: The Bar - 10/21.
She could just as well have ordered water, but it didn't seem quite appropriate in a bar when she was about to ask for help from the bartender.
Re: The Bar - 10/21.
"Ouch," said Summer, but she was grinning a bit as she set a nice generic beer (she felt it fit a certain type) down in front of her. "But fair, I know they're not exactly for everyone. Good to see you, though, Breq, how've you been?"

And having too much time on her hands.
Which was interesting, considering how busy she kept herself, too.
"And the potential indoctrination of a newb, I want to make sure her first time is special, you know? Don't suppose I could interest you in one tonight?"
She grinned.
"Or several?"
Never hurt to try, right?
Re: The Bar - 10/21.
She wasn't much of a drinker. And that generic beer was nice, refreshing and generic.
Re: The Bar - 10/21.
"I'll take it," she said, with maybe a little beam of pride at the end, because jello definitely was one thing she couldn't easily be humble about. "So. Jesse. How've you been?"

She recognized the name of that cocktail from the bartending guide she consulted constantly over at the DN.
Re: The Bar - 10/21.
"Oooh," Summer enthused with approval, especially since it gave her the chance to serve up something that wasn't a generic beer. "One margarita coming up, and, to tide you over..."
She set one of the French 75s in front of Annie with no small amount of ceremony.
"Your first jello shot! And hopefully the first of many, many more!"
Re: The Bar - 10/21.
Jello shots were something of a quick mystery, yes.
"How was your trip?" she asked, gently squeezing the sides of the shot to loosen the jello.

"That's actually surprising," she said when she looked at the specials.
Re: The Bar - 10/21.
"Water comes from more than just a faucet," she pointed out. "This shit affects the pipes, but not the stuff we have already bottled at the store. So I just use that. I never got why everyone freaks out over the 'something wrong with the taps' thing.
"Now, if all liquids were turned into PSL or cider or neggnog or whatever, then I'd be worried. No draft beer tonight, sure, but bottles are fine."

Granted, Rey didn't understand how people complained about the taste of most foods and drinks.
