Homecoming Brunch, The Park, Sunday Morning

So, the thunder and lightning were making the park a little more appropriately gothic this morning, but once it became apparent that it wasn't actually going to rain, everything finished getting set up for brunch. The tables were all lined in black, and there was still plenty of Halloweenish glitter everywhere, in case you hadn't gotten covered in enough already. The candles were actually sort of helpful, since the weather didn't want to be particularly nice. Come and get some food!

There's plenty of coffee, if that will help!

Stark, still sporting extra shiny and lovely hair, was of course at the brunch. He was very fond of free food, after all. And if he was remembering correctly, it was at this brunch last year that he'd first made his reappearance in Fandom. So of course he was here. Even if the weather was acting strangely.

Anakin--without the bus, thank you very much--was down at the brunch with Juliet and Christopher. They'd already ghosted their father in favor of stuffing as many chocolate chip pancakes into their mouths as they could before he found out.

"So it appears that a bus has been macking on you," Jaye greeted him.

Anakin sighed. "This is going to follow me forever."

Like a bus.

"Oh yeah, I'm gonna make sure of it," Jaye assured him, sitting down. "I mean... is it at least maybe possessed of human consciousness?"

"It is not," Anakin said, sighing again. "It's just a bus. A highly decorated bus."

"Who wants you," Jaye finished.

"Yes," Anakin said. "My life is extremely strange."

"I'm guessing this is more of a slow burn type of romance?" Jaye said.

"Something like that," Anakin said dryly. "I had no idea she felt this way. Or that the bus was a she."

"At least now you know. Now you can look into what kind of legal options you have in marrying a vehicle."

Surely someone had done something like that before. Probably in Florida.

"I'm very sure I can imagine Rory's face at that," Anakin said.

"What's she gonna do, stand in the way of true love?"

You know. Between a man and a school bus.

"That's probably a terrible idea--standing in the way--if one of us is a bus," Anakin said with a wince.

"This is what I'm saying!"

"I cannot believe this is my life right now," Anakin said.

"Really? This is what does it?" Jaye asked.

"This might've been the tipping point for the week," Anakin said. "Plus I'm pretty sure one of the kids in my class has my telekinesis for the weekend and I keep waiting to hear that Mooby Burger is now right next to the dorms."

"Why would Mooby Burger be right next to the dorms?" Jaye asked.

"Because she'd move it there with her brain," Anakin said.

"I couldn't fault her for it," Jaye admitted.

Anakin laughed. "But it would be a pain to move back on Monday."

"Why the hell would you do that? I'd be a better place for it."

Like a food court!

"Because then it's a longer walk for us?" Anakin said.

"You have a bus wife now, Anakin."

Anakin threw a pastry at her. "I do not."

"Common law bus wife," Jaye corrected, picking up the pastry after it hit her.

Her pastry now!

"Common law bus wife," Anakin repeated. "Aeryn can never, ever hear about this."

"You know you shouldn't have said that out loud in front of me, right?" Jaye checked.

"I realized it just after I said it, yes," Anakin said, nodding. "Can I bribe you?"

ETHICS TEACHER.

"You know you can," Jaye said immediately.

She had no ethics.

"Mooby Burger?" Anakin offered.

"This is wat too good for Moody Land. We're talking something you have to explain to Rory when she sees it on your credit card statement," she said.

"As long as it's not jewelry," Anakin said. "The bus will get jealous, too."

"That's fine. I don't want to mess with anything that can leave tire tracks across my face," Jaye allowed.

"That's a good policy in general," Anakin said.

One that Anakin had ignored most of his life.

There probably weren't many people from Jaye's time at school who were going to show up here, but hey, she'd graduated, why not show up?

And get the free food and coffee. It was mostly about the free food and coffee.

There's... plenty of coffee, if that will help!

Now, brunch wasn't technicleh breakfast, but breakfast was a part of it, as was tradition, and so Wayne couldn't help but feel obligated to come on down and appreciate it after what was jus' about the handwaviest time at the dance the night before. Mebbe he'd get some good ideas fer what to do (or what not to do!) fer tomorrow morning while he was at it.

Stark didn't particularly need the coffee today but he had a cup anyway. He needed something to wash down the copious amounts of free food he planned on eating, after all.

He loaded up a plate with waffles and bacon and a donut that he hoped had edible glitter on it but wasn't entirely sure. If it wasn't, well, he'd eaten worse than a little glitter.

Why yes, I did sleep through my alarm this morning and that's why I set eight of them during the week.
