Monday: Covent garden Flowers

Nell had to admit she found the dancing pumpkin people rather disturbing, but it turned out that they were pretty good at putting spooky touches on their Halloween orders.

So, figuring that if she couldn't beat them she should join them, Nell turned on some music and danced along too. When dancing skeletons showed up she just shrugged and invited them in.

Lucille had decided to stop by and introduce herself to her employees, so in the afternoon she entered the shop.

"Nell? I am Lucille Sharpe. It's a pleasure to meet you."

[Timezones are not our friends I think, but Lucille wants to say hi.]

"Oh gosh, Miss Sharpe," Nell said. She quickly brushed the dirt off her hands and went over to the woman. "It is a pleasure to meet you'un."

She offered her hand, hoping it was clean enough.


[Yes, timezones and a phone replacement and insanity!]

Lucille didn't mind about the hand, it was a flower shop after all.

"I understand you make the lovely tea blends," she said.

Nell blushed a little. "Well I like them and I know Seivarden did. Would you like to try some? Oh, and I make all natural hand and face lotions as well if you'd like to try those."

She smiled at Lucille. "Some weekends I go through the portal to some farmer's markets. Gives me a little extra spending money so I can try new things."

"I would love to try both," Lucille replied with a polite smile. "And you are welcome to sell the teas in the shop if you like."

"Oh gosh, really?" Nell said excitedly, then composed herself a little. "That would be wnderful, but I wouldn't want to take advantage. I mean, Seivarden was good enough to let me use a corner in the back to grow some of my plants and even that was incredibly kind."

Even as she spoke she was pulling together a few packets of tea and jars of lotion for Lucille. They might not look fancy, but the teas were delicious and the lotions were lightly scented and creamy without being greasy.

"Perhaps not the lotions though," Lucille said. "I wouldn't want to come across as if I was competing with Iris, my previous employer, but I would love to try them myself."

"Oh no, I wouldn't!" Nell assured her. "I thought about asking Iris if she might be interested in selling some of my lotions at her store, but I felt funny about it. Having my teas here is so awfully much more than generous!"

"Just arrange them on a shelf and write a not with the prices," Lucille said.

She paused. "May I ask when and where you are from?"

Nell did behave a bit like poorer girls from Lucille's time did.

Nell nodded. "I can do that."

She blushed a little at Lucille's question. She was working on being better about her speech, but talking like a church woman was still what she was most used to. "I'm from about the same time as this place is, but I was raised in East Tennessee in, well, the God's Cloud of Glory church."

"That is not a church I have heard about," Lucille said. "But I admit I am not religious."

She smiled. "And what brought you to Fandom? Did you use to be a student? I was."

[mylandmyrules]

"I just kinda showed up here two years ago," Nell said. "They can't seem to find a way to get me back home to my husband, John. But someone must've known I was coming because I had a big brother and a room and classes all set out for me."

She smiled at Lucille a little sadly. "I'm a junior now."

"You must have married very young, then," Lucille noted.

[mylandmyrules]

"I'd just turned twelve," Nell said. "One of the church elders wanted to marry me, but he was a terrible man. John and Leah found me after I'd turned him down and offered for me to keep me safe. Said I wouldn't have to do my wifely duties till I was 15."

She looked down. "I was here by then. I was John's second wife till Leah died - just before I ended up here. Almost three years."

"Perhaps you are better off here," Lucille said, now having a very bad impression of Nell's church.

"I think maybe you're right," Nell said. "But I feel bad just disappearing on John and not bein' able to tell him that I didn't just run away after he and Leah saved me like that."

Don't worry, Lucille, Nell has a very bad impression of her church as well.
