Rey's warehouse- Friday afternoon

Rey had really figured that after the last couple days of weirdness, they'd be in for an attack of some kind today. But nope! Jack-o-lanterns and not bad feelings. All right.

She settled in to start working on Form VI while she waited, and at least she was in the right zone when a woodchuck lobbed a pumpkin at her.

"Really?" she said patiently, pausing. "There was a candle in there. There could have been a fire."

"Rey?" Anakin called, stepping into the warehouse.

"Over here," she called, shooting a warning glare at the woodchucks but otherwise going through the forms like normal.

Anakin walked in, navigating around all of jack-o-lanterns. "Have you decided your costume for tomorrow?"

[thatwaslucky]

That was quite the sigh there, Rey.

"I didn't do the deciding, but yes."

She knew this job was dangerous when she took it. Or at least, she should have assumed, she kept getting warnings.

Anakin laughed. "Is it something fluffy?" he guessed.

[thatwaslucky]

Rey nodded, and there was a long pause before confirming, "It's something fluffy."

"Pink?" Anakin added, already delighted.

[thatwaslucky]

"I hate that you're guessing this right," Rey told him.

[sith_happened]

Anakin laughed. "I am absolutely looking forward to this. Where are you going so I can enjoy it?"

[thatwaslucky]

"The party," she said with another sign, finally shutting down the lightsaber. "Tell me you'll be dressed as something embarrassing."

Anakin laughed. "I'm letting the kids decide."

So that would be a train wreck.

"I would love to see how that ends up," Rey admitted.

[sith_happened]

"I'm sure it will be fine."

It would not be fine.

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm sure it will," Rey said, meaning that. Because she only spent time around children on a certain weekend every year. "Have they chosen for you before?"

[sith_happened]

"They haven't," Anakin said. "I have a slightly bad feeling about this."

[thatwaslucky]

"What's the worst they can do?"

She had no idea. None.

[sith_happened]

"Exactly!" said Anakin. "I'll probably end up a cowboy or something."

Nope.

[thatwaslucky]

"Please don't be a cowboy," she said.

[sith_happened]

"Why not?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"I know someone going as one." Just please don't pay attention to him.

[sith_happened]

"Well, it's not fun to have two people in the same costume," Anakin said, "so I'll try to steer the kids in a different direction."

[thatwaslucky]

"Probably for the best." After all, no one wanted be the Shirtful Cowboy. "Maybe they have something more modern in mind anyway."

Definitely more esoteric!

"Hope it's not a Jedi," Anakin said. "That's boring."

[thatwaslucky]

"And it's not really something different," Rey said. "That's the point of the holiday, right?"

[sith_happened]

"I think so," Anakin said. "Mostly it seems to be about getting more Snickers than your sibling."

[thatwaslucky]

"That sounds like a fun goal, though," Rey said, deprived.

[sith_happened]

Anakin laughed. "I'll bring some of their candy next week," he promised.

[thatwaslucky]

"What kind of training goes with a sugar crash?" she grinned.

[sith_happened]

"No idea," Anakin admitted. "I'll make something up."

[thatwaslucky]

"I appreciate it," Rey said. "As long as the kids don't mind."

[sith_happened]

"They won't even notice," Anakin promised, grinning.

[thatwaslucky]

"Is there really that much?" Rey wondered, since she still absolutely did notice that sort of thing.

[sith_happened]

"It's an insane amount of candy," said the guy who thought that ten pieces was enough.

[thatwaslucky]

"I will never understand this holiday tradition but I do appreciate it," Rey said.

[sith_happened]

"I'm pretty much the same way," Anakin said. "Especially when they bring home good candy."

[thatwaslucky]

"What's good candy?" This was an important question.

[sith_happened]

"That's subjective, but for me it means chocolate, nuts, and bigger than my thumb."

[thatwaslucky]

"Thats actually good criteria," Rey said. "Though the only thing I've found that I didn't like was the black licorice."

[sith_happened]

"I'll bring you a sampler," Anakin said, "and you can find out what you like."

[thatwaslucky]

"You're spoiling me," Rey smiled.

[sith_happened]

"Maybe a little, but that's all right," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"I do appreciate that," she told him. Just in case she didn't say that enough, which she felt like she didn't.

Anakin grinned at her. "I'm glad."
