defenderofdesmoines: (annie - you're not fooling anyone)

The Devil's Nest | Monday Evening

Yeah, Annie was at the bar. If by 'at the bar' one meant kind of hiding behind the bar

It wasn't that she was...embarrassed about having spent the weekend (and some change! She'd noticed it had started on Thursday this time, island) as a thirteen year-old. It was fine. Nearly everyone else had also been a teenager, it had seemed like (and oh boy, did she need to talk to someone about some socks, eventually.)  But there was just nothing like spending a few days dredging up every weird insecurity that she had experienced at that age. Annie had spent a little extra time lingering with her adult reflection in the mirror this morning, just to reassure any remaining part of her little self that they'd done okay. (Even if she was two inches shorter than Queen Maeve.)

In any case, she was behind the bar tonight with a little less pep than usual, actually ignoring the blender today in favor of her phone. "I'm looking up party punches," she told Tiny, as though Tiny cared in the slightest about why she was on her phone. "'Cause Rey and I are throwing a party next week."

Let's be real: she was mostly strong-arming Rey into letting her use her beautiful apartment to throw this party, and Rey was being gracious enough to allow it. But Annie wanted to give her credit, too. (Assuming people actually came to this party, since it was entirely possible that her teenage self had been annoying enough to drive everyone away, forever, and that Rey wasn't even speaking to her after all the fawning on Thursday.)
