Atlas Gym, Monday (12/28)
It was shaping up to be a fairly quiet day at the gym, at least if the first fifteen minutes of Beau's shift -- shockingly devoid of her chatty nemesis from the spin class -- were going to be an indicator of how everything else was going to go from there.
And that was just fine with her.
She did her usual quick walkthrough of the facility, making sure nothing was broken or about to be broken, randomly turned into food (that hadn't happened in a while, and wow, she hoped she didn't just jinx it by realizing that), or inexplicably and drastically out of place. It all looked good so far, and she wasn't going to have to figure out how to get a rowing machine down from the ceiling, so after her usual ludicrous amount of reps she settled in behind the desk for a while.
Looking through a college class catalog. Shut up. She had to know shit if she was going to be like a super secret Cobalt Soul agent eventually, okay, and why not take advantage of having all the different perspectives that came from being in a different world?
So definitely that political science class, and was it going to be a bad idea if she tried to take Argument and Debate? Probably. Understanding how trade routes worked and shit would be a good idea too, so International Business could be a thing? And then that Library Science class was completely going to happen, and... this list would be out of control in ten minutes, and paring it down to a manageable number of credits was going to hurt.
Sigh. This was what happened when she let her nerd side roam free.
[OOC: Gym/post open! On the upside, I'm working from home today. On the downside, that means my time gets monitored more closely, so... the usual SP will probably ensue.
Also hey, official animated recaps of my very, uh, voluminous canon are gonna be a thing! Look at this bite-sized cartoon intro of the M9. LOOK AT IT. IT'S SO CUTE.]

"No dog today?"
Asking if it got crushed under some weights would probably just reinforce Beau's perception of her as someone that felt no concern for animals, and that it bothered Seivarden to be perceived as that.

"Yeah, he's home for now. I might go get him later, if he starts getting all restless."
She rolled her eyes throughout that entire statement, for the record.
no subject
"I just worried you had got him crushed in the cable machine."
no subject
"Fuck no! I'm not, like, a shitty pet owner, okay?"
Little defensive there? Yeah. She didn't enjoy the reminder of all the times while growing up that she'd tried to bargain for a pet and got told she couldn't be trusted to take care of one anyway.

Because she hadn't misinterpreted anything. Nope.
"Pretty sure he'd just like blink out of danger, anyway, it's kind of what he does."

She paused.
"Good bacon, I remember that."
no subject
Seivarden was a bit picky with randomly appearing food.
no subject
"Uh, yeah. Bacon."
no subject
Seivarden felt that was important.

She gestured with her hand.

She paused.
"That's not how it works, I know. Relative cultural thing though."
Another pause.
"Pretty sure you'd refuse to believe my world has even heard of culture, though."
no subject
It was whether it was civilised or not it mattered, although that had become more complicated lately.
no subject
"You'd probably hate it there, anyway," she said in a tone that mildly suggested she might be amusing herself picturing it.
no subject
Seivarden considered herself a lot less judgemental these days, although Breq might say that perhaps not as much as she thought.
no subject
She should probably check on how things were going on that front, come to think of it.
no subject
"I admit, that does sound terrible. Do you even have tea?"
no subject
"Yeah, we do. And it isn't even all made from dead people. Well, technically..."

Seivarden looked almost horrified.
"That sounds like you would need a purification ritual after drinking it."
no subject
Beau just smirked a bit.
"Anyway, like he says, all plants are sort of technically grown from dead people. And things."

Beau was just being a pain, now.

Yeah, she was sure Seivarden would be really sad about that. Sure.
