Summer had just gotten back from her blissfully normal (save one shopping trip to a harshly geneder divided planet with a Bigfoot, but, let's be honest, still pretty tame) last night and was ready for a presumably quiet week on the island before everything with the new semester started out, and she was very pleased when a shipment she was expecting arrived so she could actually get the ball rolling on what had been her Christmas gift to her dad...
...a nice, though small, display near the counter featuring the very simple bear-shaped bottles of Jerry's Own 'brand' honey.
Look. It might be kind of weird, that a daughter's gift to her dad was a business agreement to help promote and sell the honey from his fledgling beekeeping hobby in her store (and come on, her gift to her mom was an agreement to visit more and go to family counseling again, soooo it was definitely an unconventional gift kind of year), but it sure beat getting him another tie that he wasn't exactly going to be wearing because he was otherwise unemployed. It made him happy and gave him a sense of worth and maybe even a sense of pride, which were things that Jerry Smith did not exactly come by easily these days.
And it gave Summer a weird sense of pride to be helping, too, as she considered the display with satisfaction, took a few pictures to send to him for approval, and then got back to getting in orders in preparation for the new semester flux and get on with business as usual.
