It was interesting how Rey never even questioned why she never turned little on these weekends. She was just always vaguely good with that, and more interested in seeing other people as kids anyway.

Today there were a bunch of different toys that needed fixing. For some strange reason. And given the kind of weekend it was, Rey was pretty intent on getting them done pretty fast so they could actually be used again.

She also kind of wondered how many would end up back here by the end of her shift...

"Hellooooo!" Annie shouted, barging right in.

She didn't really know where she was, which had been a theme this weekend. It wasn't like she ever came here as an adult. But she'd gotten away from Diego again and there appeared to be toys in here so it seemed as good a place to hide out as any.

Honestly Rey should have expected something like this.

"Hello," she greeted her, smiling. "And who are you?"

"I'm Annie!" she exclaimed. Unless she was in trouble, or competing in a pageant, but Rey obviously already knew those things as an omniscient adult. "What're you doing?"

Oh, Rey was so happy about this, look at you, Annie!

"I'm fixing a toy. Do you want to see?" she offered.

"Yes!" Of course she wanted to see, and Annie was now running over in her little white cowgirl boots (and her sprinkle-decorated vest and skirt, because she was wearing this all weekend) to peer at what Rey was doing. "Can I help?"

She was so good at helping.

"Sure," Rey said, taking a second to move some of the sharper tools further back. "Can you see the table from there okay?"

Annie peeked up over the table, nodding. "I'm not 'lowed to use tools," she noted, watching Rey move the sharp things away. "Even though they're fun!"

Annie was very fuzzy on what most tools actually did, but she could aimlessly bang on things with a hammer with the best of them.

"Tools are fun, huh?" Rey asked. "I think so too. Are you allowed to hand me a tool, do you think?"

"Yes!" Partly because she could totally handle that, but also because Annie's parents weren't here and so there hadn't been a lot of paying attention to what she was allowed to do, anyway. (See also: sprinkles and swear words.) "Which one?"

There were lots of tools. Annie's favorite was the screwdriver, even if she had no idea what you did with it except that it twirled.

You were in luck, Annie!

"Do you see that screwdriver there? The little one, with the... sort of diamond shape on the end?" She was pointing, if it helped.

Annie selected the correct screwdriver proudly. "This one?" she asked, very carefully holding it out to Rey.

She wanted to make sure she helped right so she'd get to keep doing it!

"That is perfect, thank you," Rey said, taking it. See, Finn, it wasn't so hard. "I'm going to use this to open up the back and see what's wrong with it."

"Like a toy operation." Annie was having some serious articulation issues this weekend, so 'operation' might not have been the clearest, but she was very solemn as she peered closely at the toy because operations were very serious.

"Like a toy operation, yes," Rey nodded, grabbing a palm-sized square box with wires hanging out of it. "You know a lot about operations?"

"Sometimes people do operations on TV." Usually offscreen, and all Annie really knew was that after an operation you got flowers and a teddy bear and balloons with mysterious, unreadable words on them. "You're like a toy doctor!"

You know who else hadn't been tiny-fied this weekend? Liam, for a change.

Which meant his weekend was spent wrangling tiny, adorable blondes. One of which was old enough to more or less do her own thing (at least until she was hungry, or in need of a bandaid, or required someone to carry around something cool she'd found) and one of which... well, Nina was also pretty good at doing her own thing, but damnit, she shouldn't have to be.

So she was currently balanced on Liam's hip as he pushed open the door to the shop, tiny hands clutching a book she'd picked out her very own self (Don't ask where they got the book. Actually do ask, because it was hilarious.).

"Hey," he greeted Rey. "How's your day going so far?"

"Kind of. I'm helping this toy get better so its owner can enjoy it again," she said, picking up a palm-sized box with wires coming out of it to plug into the little controls on the toy. "I get paid much less than TV doctors, though."

"Busy," Rey said, looking up. "Though you're probably busier."

"Whatever makes you say that?" Liam asked, with faux-cluelessness.

"Small blonde," Rey said, reasonably.

"Is it sick?" Annie asked, very concerned about the toy, now.

Nina was busy peering at her book so she totally ignored him greeting someone else because...

Well.

Book.

"DADDY, THE LETTERS ARE ALL THE SAME SIZE!!!!!!!!!"

Blondes, technically! Though Verity was more of a free-range small child.

"There is that," Liam acknowledged. "This is Nina." Which... Rey could probably guess due to the curls and the book and the clinging-to-Liam, yes.

"Are they?" Liam feigned surprise. "Can I see?"

Nina was still sticking close to Liam's legs because, sure, he hadn't forgotten her yet, but what if he did?

But she was definitely peering over the top of her new book at the other kid.
