Rey's warehouse- Friday

Rey hadn't seen the woodchucks in a while. She didn't believe for a second that they were gone, but she did believe they were probably just lying in wait somehow.

So mostly out of curiosity she was doing things like running the course and really drawing attention to the spots where she risked falling. Spending just a little too much time on the tightrope portion, hanging from the rock wall with a moment with one arm, jumping back and forth across the quicksand, and such. And nothing. Not one single thing thrown at her.

Huh.

But hey, she'd done really well at the course for the first time since this version had been built and it should probably concern yet that that was what got this result.

Anakin came in looking a little nonplussed. "There's a squirrel outside with a placard demanding rum. Apparently we didn't celebrate Squirrel Appreciation Day appropriately yesterday?"

"It was Squirrel Appreciation Day?"

So, maybe the squirrels had a point.

"Apparently?" Anakin replied, shrugging. "It wasn't on my calendar."

[thatwaslucky]

"I feel like after all these years, that would have been more of a thing here," Rey admitted.

"Exactly!" Anakin said. "A parade or something."

[thatwaslucky]

"Now I feel like we should make it up to them. Is run actually sufficient?"

You were dating a pirate, Rey. Of course.

"That's what was on the sign, but it could be because it's easy to spell," Anakin said.

[thatwaslucky]

"It's what works for bribes," Rey mused.

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "I think that's because it's what the first radio guy had around all the time."

[thatwaslucky]

"So they got drunk and used to it." Which seemed troubling when you thought about it too hard?

[sith_happened]

"Well, put like that it sounds disturbing," Anakin said, frowning.

[thatwaslucky]

"Forget I put it like that," Rey said quickly.

[sith_happened]

"Immediately forgotten," Anakin said.

How do you even start an intervention with slightly feral, drunken squirrels?

With rabies shots on hand?

"Maybe the wildlife are just being odd," Rey said. "The woodchucks haven't been here in weeks."

[sith_happened]

"Did they move?" Anakin asked, frowning.

[thatwaslucky]

"They're probably building something very big to throw at me."

It sounded like a joke. It was not a joke.

"Really?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"I certainly don't put it past them," Rey shrugged. "I might have tried to see if they were waiting for me to do something dangerous before coming out."

[sith_happened]

"Have they gotten mad about something in particular?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"I don't think so. But the last time I saw them we had reindeer." So, maybe.

[sith_happened]

Anakin winced. "Oh no."

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm sure they're fine. But..." She expected something big to get thrown at her.

[sith_happened]

"They might be carrying grudges," Anakin said, nodding.

Or were eaten, but that was a huge downer.

[thatwaslucky]

"That's what I'm afraid of," Rey admitted. "Maybe I should learn from the squirrels and leave them treats."
