Turtle & Canary; Monday [01/25].
Summer had missed most of the weekend, as it fell on one of her weekends back home, but she'd caught the tail end of it, a little bit, and was relieved to find that there were no ghosts in her apartment, that seemed to definitely be a Stark thing, but Pancakes was talking. Which was great the last time that happened, but when Summer got all excited about them getting high together again to contemplate the universe or whatever, because that had seriously been the best, Pancakes got all offended and spent the rest of the evening lecturing Summer on proper behavior and being a lady and even having the audacity to tell her that pink really did clash with redhair.
Like, the nerve!
So this talking Pancakes was way less fun than the last one, and Summer was incredibly relieved to be woken up to the insistent sounds of meowing instead of words, even though Pancakes had woken her up to be fed despite the significant amount of food already sitting in her food dish.
At least she knew things were back to normal, right?
So it was off to the store to take care of things like normal, get a few stories from Apu about what she'd missed, do a major restocking of the alcohol section with plenty of bottom shelf options, because...yeah, yeah, pretty big driver lately there, for some reason...and generally just sort of contemplate some of the things that had been brought up in the counselling session with Dr. Wong that weekend, a few perspectives on things she hadn't really considered before that needed some major consideration.

She really kind of loved that apple had to be specified as not being poisoned.
"Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuummeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina greeted as she piled her bags of apple chips on the counter. "Is, like, Rapunzel lettuce really a thing????????????"
She was probably 100% going to bother Ignis with the same question later no matter what Summer said.

She did however, google it real quick and then turned the results toward Nina.
"See? More commonly known as 'field salad' these days, apparently. Hard to pick which one sounds tastier, really..."

...you know, she didn't think she'd done grass in a jello shot yet, now that she thought about it.
Because of course she would think about it.

But she didn't want to back down from a challenge, however silly it was.
"A medium, please," she said. "And let it be known that I'm full of doubts that this will be any good!!!!!!!!!"

Literally so many people she knew could avoid so much drama or whatever if they'd just actually listened to her every once in a while, but whatever...
NFB, please! :D
Since, alas, Summer was a cute girl and Nina didn't swing that way...
She set out a couple of little bottles of rum for the squirrels to take.
"I mean, like, I need to plan a surprise party," Nina said, eyes wide and and guileless as the squirrels took the rum and bolted. "And I hear you're good at that......??????????"
Re: NFB, please! :D
Oh, Nina. Sweetie. You just made Summer's day. Possibly her week. Maybe even her year.
You know, so far. But since it was only January, it wasn't like that was a very high bar yet.
"If I ever cease to be so good at parties," she declared, "just put a bullet in my head and bury me now, because what would even be the point of living anymore?" She leaned on the counter, eyes bright and eager for all the juicy details, opening her mind to get started on that terrifying whirlwind that was Summer's brain when ideas were involved. "What've we got? What's the occasion? Who's it for? When will it be, and do you have any thoughts so far on themes and location, or are we working straight from scratch?"
Re: NFB, please! :D
"I'd have given more notice, but I needed to make sure his schedule meant he'd be on the island for his actual bday.........."
Re: NFB, please! :D
She would have pegged him at, like, forty, or something. With just, like, a really good skin care routine maybe. Like, had you ever read any of his emails, Nina? Twenty-year-olds did not write emails like that, no matter what planet they were from.
This was kind of blowing her mind a little right now.
Re: NFB, please! :D
Re: NFB, please! :D
"But, okay," she said, drawing in a breath, letting it out, as if centering herself to the task at hand. "Birthday. Twenty-one. For someone who's never had a real blow-out before." That in particular made her grin. "I am good at first impression parties, just ask Annie, that whole Christmas party got to where it was because people hadn't really had a good blow-out Christmas party like that before. So that's a good start. That means it's got to be big, it's got to bold, and it's got to be ridiculous. You said it's the seventh?"
Re: NFB, please! :D
And if he was covered in glitter, over-tired, and possibly smelling like he'd been drinking (Nina doubted they could get him to willingly get drunk and she... wasn't... going to get him drunk), well, like...
Noctis would think it was hilarious.
Re: NFB, please! :D
Re: NFB, please! :D
"We're going to worry about the food, like, last," she decided, "because he's going to be difficult about food!!!!!!!!!!!! He's, like, going to fuss about it not being perfect no matter what we do!!!!!!!"
Wait. Wait. That--
"I'll come back to that," she finished. "Because now I have an idea and, like, it could be amazing, but while that's percolating, like, you know, I was thinking for themes, something bright and bold and sunny???????? Like, you know, a pool party????????"
In February.
Nina saw no problems with that.
Re: NFB, please! :D
"Pool party also means barbecue for food," she pointed out. "Although I know you said, like, food later, but I mean, who honestly hates barbecue?"
Ignis. Summer would bet that if anyone hated barbecue, it would be Ignis.
AND HE'D BE WRONG.
Re: NFB, please! :D
"A destination party would, like, make it a lot harder to get Iggy to come alone," she admitted. "Because, like, once he digs in his heels, dear lord, so I was thinking more, of like, picking a place here and then......."
She wiggled her fingers.
"I can do a pool party," she said. "If we pick a place really soon because, like, it will involve me and my chalk camping out wherever this party is going to be since this is such short notice.........."
Re: NFB, please! :D
Re: NFB, please! :D
"I can make any room into anything with enough time to draw the spell out first," Nina explained.
Theoretically she could do it without the chalk and in a rush but then she'd be, like, comatose for a week or two and Nina was not really keen on that.
"Like when I turned Bus Dean's house into a bouncy castle for a week, you know????????"
Re: NFB, please! :D
Summer's mouth opened for a moment, then she stopped. Considered. Opened her mouth again.
"So you're saying you could pretty much turn any room into a pool with, like, chalk?"
Re: NFB, please! :D
Besides, Prompto would have a fit if she knocked herself out for a week because of a pool party.
... Dad, too, come to think of it.
... Probably?
Re: NFB, please! :D
Summer, though, was mostly just thinking of this from various angles.
"Could you turn my apartment into a pool?"
She almost suggested Seivarden's. That was were Ignis lived, after all, and Summer was thoroughly convinced that she could get Seivarden to agree to almost anything, but then she'd have to deal with Seivarden pouting at her for turning her apartment into a pool, because Seivarden would be just that person to not see how awesome that was.
They could turn her apartment into a place to put the cat.
Re: NFB, please! :D
(And she loved him for it.)
"So long as, like, you're prepared for me to basically be a roomie for most of the time from now until next week, yeah, definitely," she said brightly, though with a bit of an apology in her voice too. "Like, it takes time to do this sort of thing, especially since I'll want to have the energy to attend the party myself..........."
Re: NFB, please! :D
But then Summer thought of one little detail.
"Wait," she wondered, "what happens to the place after the pool, though?"
Re: NFB, please! :D
"After the pool??????????" she asked. "Like, once the spell ends???????"
Re: NFB, please! :D
Lesson learned from Christmas. Lesson learned.
It was still so totally worth it, though.
Re: NFB, please! :D
"Probably, like, same amount clean up you'd have to do after a normal party?????????" she said finally. "Like, the chalk and everything specifically involving the pool would disappear when the spell ended, so you wouldn't have to worry about, like, water everywhere or a permanent pool taking up your space or towels and lounge chairs and floaties?????????"
Nina paused.
"Basically, like, if someone brings it to the pool, they'll keep it when they leave?????????" she said. "Anything that I create with the pool, though, will disappear."
Re: NFB, please! :D
Except she was definitely already getting twitches from Barry about exactly the hows and whys, but he'd get over it.
"We might want to skip the inflatables, though," she added, because that seemed...important.
Re: NFB, please! :D
Nina grinned.
"Maybe just one???????" she tried. "A crown, for the birthday boy????"
Re: NFB, please! :D
"Okay," she allowed, "but if that crown ends up eating his head, that's on you."
Re: NFB, please! :D
Nina paused.
"And if it doesn't, then we'll know immediately to set it on fire!!!!!!!!!!!"
Re: NFB, please! :D
Honestly, though, a fire on the birthday boy's head was a pretty valid sign of a hell of a party, she'd take it!
Re: NFB, please! :D
"I'll try to remember to toss it out onto the street first," she promised, giggling. "Is it, like, cool if I leave you and------I was thinking, like, Annie and maybe Rey, to deal with invites and everything????????"
Because Nina was going to be drowning in chalk. So much chalk.
