Devil's Nest | Monday Night
Annie was a little baggy-eyed and stiff-necked when she came into work today, though she'd showered and gotten her hair under control. (The humidity of Ajan Kloss had found every curl and wave her hair normally resisted, ugh.) And while she'd considered trying to sleep for a couple hours before heading into the bar, it somehow made more sense to just ride out the caf-related momentum she already had going and just crash hard later.
"Tiny, look." Tiny did not look. "Look, his name is BB-8. Isn't he cute? He's a droid."
It was possible that drinking a bunch of caf, snatching a few naps here and there - some of which were on the floor of a spaceship - while also carrying several cumulative tons of equipment over the weekend had rendered Annie overtired to the point of being a little loopy. (And being exposed to the mind-breaking cuteness of BB-8 didn't, like, help.)
So, she was here, she could pour drinks and would, but there was a real good chance that excited, droid-and-bear-monster-related babbling was also on the table. Sorry, not sorry.

Bar | 2/1/21
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
Maybe talking to Annie would help at least hold her off on the emails for a sub for her class tomorrow while she maybe just blew off this dimension for a few days, anyway.
But it wasn't like she was going to open with any of that.
"Soooooo," she grinned at Annoe instead, leaning a little on the bar, "congrats on your first full blown space mission! I'd buy you a beer, but..."
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
Because caf was still a revelation.
"I don't know what I was expecting," she added, "but like, that was awesome."
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
Because if there was a whole thing, then Annie kinda wanted to hear about it.
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
"I mean," she ventured, "I did blow up a section of it before I left, so if I wasn't before, I definitely was after that..."
Feeling like that could maybe use a little more context, she added, "It was where I had my space jello shop and cafe. That I was kind of using as a secret spy base for the resistence in the time before Rey's time. Because that galaxy loves it some evil space empires, let me tell you. The place was pretty popular, though; I spent months scouting a good location with a decent amount of traffic, especially from those involved in the minutae of the Empire, and I could have probably franchised at one point if it weren't for a major lead sort of putting the fire to my feet. I was able to get a ton of info to my friends, but I kind of had to blow my cover....and the shop....to do so. I mean, totally worth it, and that is what brought me back here again, but it's hard to not wonder what could have been...especially after something like this weekend."
Because, yeah, telling that story? Not helping with the itch, like, at all right now. Like, when was the last time she even really blew something up? Too long, probably.
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
She leaned her chin in her hands, sinking down a little into her elbows as she considered the rest, though. "And that sounds - like...honestly, like some serious hero stuff." And that wasn't a term Annie just threw around, either. "I mean, what a sacrifice."
"And you miss it." It wasn't a question, not based on how Summer was talking about it. But it was, at least, very gently offered, because as much as she appreciated Fandom's quiet, sometimes, she definitely got that.
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
And maybe it was sort of an attempt to ignore the heat that it brought to her face and the uncomfortable awkwardness that seemed to come with the idea, too. Heroes didn't blow up parts of cities, Annie. People almost always died when Summer tried to be a hero.
So, interestingly enough, that meant the last part of it was actually the easiest part to latch on to, in part because it had been bugging her since Rey picked up on that, too, and because she had kind of come by tonight maybe to actually talk about some stuff. Or at least get a read on Annie about this kind of stuff.
"I do," she admitted. "Like, a lot. I don't know what it was about this last mission that did it, but I just...almost wanted to stay out there, you know? Figure out how to help. Hopefully with, like, more spy shit."
She'd really enjoyed the spy shit.

"I don't think Tiny is interested in the little ball thing." Neither was Diego, really, but robots were not new to him.
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
Speaking of, "But he's so cute," Annie protested to Diego, as Tiny took the opportunity to move further down the bar and away from Annie and her phone. "Like, with the rolling? And the beeping?"
Perhaps Diego was already aware of the rolling and the beeping, since Annie was kind of obsessed.
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
Which had been something he'd told her, actually, so even if Annie hadn't explicitly understood his little beeps, she'd gotten the idea.
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
Which was still so weird to her. BB-8 seemed way too cute to have such a practical purpose.

Plus, he'd be happy to provide some more lighthearted conversation that wasn't about an impending apocalypse and/or be appreciative of pictures of adorable round droids.
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
But she could pour things and she had a very heavy hand with liquor, so hope wasn't lost!
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
"Wasn't expecting Jello. And you aren't going to offer any Jello full of meat," Stark pointed out. "Which is a good thing."
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
Because that was what mattered, here. Tricks.
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
"What sort of tricks with the blender? That sounds more interesting than beer." Beer was fine, but the raccoons were still leaving random bottles of it on his balcony.
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
All perfect drinks for the first of February, sure.
Re: Bar | 2/1/21
"And then I can see your trick." Which, Stark thought, did sound like a good trick to be be able to perform.
