Monday: Covent Garden Flowers
"No, no, no," Nell protested trying to block the doorway. "We're a flower shop, not a powder shop."
"Ma'am," the delivery woman replied, with the kind of cranky voice and attitude that said nobody had better mess with her again, "This is the address I was given and after all the trouble I went through to get these packages around these streets without even the decency of an actual car... Well, you can be damn sure I'm not taking them back with me. I don't even care if you sign for them or not. Now stand back and let me bring them in or I'll just start throwing them. Somewhere."
At your head, through a window... Nell was pretty sure that was the subtext going on there, so she moved back reluctantly and let the woman bring in the thirteen cases of scented body powder.
The flowers were all craning their stems to see what was going on and the monkey faced orchids were hooting with laughter by the time all thirteen cases had been piled mostly out of the way in the back room.
Nell looked at the stack and shook her head. "I'd better leave a note about this."
