The Junkyard, Saturday Morning

Greef had been adamant that he'd found a place for him to lay low, away from any lingering Imperial entanglements. Promised up and down that it was the perfect spot. But he couldn't go into any details. Of course. But like hell was he going to go hide out in New Republic territory, so this was his best option at the moment.

He brought the Razor Crest in to land where he spotted other ships since there apparently wasn't a call tower here.

He sighed and powered down the ship before glancing back at his little passenger. "It's just for a little bit."

The kid blinked those big eyes at him, ears pricking up at the sounds of the ship cooling down.

No time like the present to see if he'd gotten screwed over here or not.

The junkyard was weirdly busy for a Saturday, huh?

Anakin was there to upgrade his security panel to make it Shuri-and-Nina proof and was there in time to watch...wow, something that looked more precariously held together than the Falcon land.

Why did he have a bad feeling about this?

Well. Because space magic probably?

Because, look at that, a Mandalorian and a baby Yoda came ambling out of the ship together.

Well, that was Huttese curse word that Anakin 1) probably shouldn't even know and 2) definitely shouldn't say around a kid. He slammed up his mental shields, hiding in the Force, and ducked behind his ship to hide do some quick reconnaissance.

Okay. Not Boba Fett. And not a weirdly short Yoda.

But still...not great.

No, Boba was later on, Anakin.

He glanced down at the kid like giving him A Look would keep him from wandering off to eat the local fauna. Which, well. No. "Keep close."

Anakin finally came out from behind his ship. "Hello."

[thedadalorian]

Well, his hand went immediately to the blaster at his hip, but he didn't draw it. Which was, you know, progress or something. "Hello."

"You here for a bounty?"

Juuuuuust checking.

[thedadalorian]

"No." But he made it sound like 'do you have a bounty on you?' because. Well. That's how it sounded, Anakin.

[sith_happened]

Well, it was entirely possible! Anakin hadn't checked in a while!

"Good," Anakin said. "I'm fond of most of the people here."

But if you'd been here to kill someone on the other list, Anakin wouldn't actually stop you. Just saying.

"I'm not with the guild anymore." Well. It was sort of up in the air, really. He was focusing on the parenting thing right now.

The kid toddled forward to investigate this new person, though.

Ohnoohnoohnoohnoohhhhhhhhno.

Anakin took a suuuuuuper casual step away from the baby Yoda. Then another three. So smooth. "Did you have a falling out?"

Yeah, but this kid was just insidious in his need to investigate--OH, LOOK A SQUIRREL. Now he was toddling over to the squirrel to check that out. Maybe see if it was edible.

"No." Yes. A big one. "I'm working a different job right now."

Eh, there were lots of them.

"It's not teaching high school, right?" Anakin checked. "Because you're a few months late and or early for that."

[thedadalorian]

Look, they'd learn to maybe give the kid a safe distance.

"Teaching what?"

[sith_happened]

"Honestly, the curriculum's pretty open," Anakin said. "I'm teaching flight."

[thedadalorian]

"No," he said slowly instead. Because who would let him teach kids? Other than how to shoot a blaster. Or fighting. "I'm supposed have someplace called Wellspring? Do you know it?"

[sith_happened]

"It sells weapons," Anakin said, nodding. "And does meditation. Well, the previous owner did. Not the store itself."

[thedadalorian]

If he knew literally anything about the Jedi, that would track for him and the kid.

He shrugged like that worked for him. Maybe Greef wouldn't get a blaster to the face next time. "Hey, spit it out," he said, turning toward the kid where he had half of a squirrel in his mouth.

Anakin barely suppressed a snort. "That might've been a reporter."

[thedadalorian]

The spit-soaked squirrel stumbled away, traumatized by the whole ordeal while the kid made sad sounds over not getting to eat it.

"Not a good one," Din muttered, making a note to find some food to cheer the kid up.

"Kids'll put anything in their mouths," Anakin said, looking at the squirrel. "Let that be a warning to you."

[thedadalorian]

"Normally he eats them." And did that make you think all new things about Master Yoda or what?

[sith_happened]

Anakin looked faintly alarmed, yes. "He eats squirrels? I thought they only liked reptiles and amphibians."

Why would you know that, Anakin?

[thedadalorian]

He was gonna mark that furry creature down as a 'squirrel' now, yes. But more importantly, his full attention was on Anakin now.

"You know his kind?"

Sithspit.

Anakin nodded cautiously. "I met several in the Galactic Senate on Coruscant."
