When Shunsui finally did drag himself over to the store, he actually got there and started...working?

Not on actual store stuff, of course. Don't be ridiculous.

But since he was here, he was going to use this time to his advantage to get going on some of those pages that he'd been contemplating for that book he was supposed to writing, and, honestly? The progress he was making on that book was actually kind of impressive.

His awful, unbelieveably smutty, incomprehensibly detailed, purple prosey salacious tour de force of a sequal to his equally awful, unbelievably smutty, incomprehensibly detailed, purple prosey salacious epic of a first novel.

If anyone's interested, he'd be more than happy to read some of what he's written, but keep in mind, there are some things that you just can't ever unhear.

He was incredibly proud of each and every word of it, though, and really couldn't wait to get Nanao-chan's feedback once he'd sent the pages to her for review.

Jessica showed up with a bottle under her arm and immediately went to the counter, not even going to her usual liquor aisle.

Upon arrival she cleared her throat and slapped a bottle of sake in front of Shunsui.

"I'm here to make terrible life choices," she declared. "So stop pretending to work."

"I think you and I have very different ideas of what constitutes as terrible life choices, Miss Jones-chan ♥."

And Shunsui actually had been working, thank you very much, though his pen had been set down and a grin tilted on his face pretty much the moment she walked in.

“Anything involving me is usually a terrible choice,” she said flatly. “Let’s not pretend it isn’t for my sake.”

She nodded to the bottle of sake. “Best I could find that wasn’t from here. I can’t tell if holding it in my armpit brought it to its proper drinking temperature but let’s just drink it and find out.”

Now, now, now, Jessica. Don't you go bringing thoughts like that into a week like this. But something softened in Shunsui's expression at that first part, almost admonishing, but he was hardly going to get into it when there were clearly other intentions at hand.

So his smile (which never really left and didn't really change, unless you knew how to feel it) pulled a little more as he considered the bottle.

"Sake at any temperature is good enough for me ♥," he informed her, figuring she'd be in agreement, and picked it up for a closer inspection that really didn't bother inspecting anything about it, and his eyes flicked back to her. "You really didn't have to. But I do think this bottle might be a bit too nice for the back room, don't you?"

There was a definite look of hesitation on Jessica's face. "If you say so," she said not meeting Shunsui's gaze directly. "I'm not that picky."

Jessica saw an amused look coming from Apu. Jessica glared hard at him until he looked away.

"What did you have in mind?"

"Well," Shunsui's hand brushed his chin with a thoughtful, considering gesture, "that depends, which is closer? Your place or mine ♥?"

"My place is fine," she replied evenly but with a small smirk. Was Shunsui's place closer? Possibly cleaner?

Most likely.

But Jessica perferred her own turf. "Think you can leave this place in someone else's hands?"

"Oh," Shunsui smiled easily as he shifted his manuscript-in-process over a little so it was out of the way, as he and the bottle of sake made it's way around the counter with all the smooth and fluttering grace of a leaf on the wind, "I have the utmost confidence in Apu-san's most capable hands ♥."

As he approached Jessica, his grin tilted a little bit, he swooped in...for what might have appeared to have been something like a kiss, twosome, but wound up being just a bow, with an inviting gesture of his arm.

"Beauty before age," he said, "of course ♥."

Oh. A kiss fake out? Jessica didn't move in but she did give him an actual smile.

"Of course," she said, heading for the door. "Don't forget the sake."

Shunsui was willing to ignore that smile in case she still wanted to pretend that she didn't enjoy the flirting, then.

"I'd never ♥!" said Shunsui, who might have tried to sound offended at such a possibility if it weren't for his laugh as he followed her out.
