Summer promised Tino she wouldn't lock him in the back room like she had the last time this week had happened, because you know what? She'd grown a lot since then, she was more mature, and honestly? This last half year had been sort of like training for a marathon, or something, to better equip her to deal with this sort of thing and there were honestly times she felt she could almost, like, transcend it.

And then Tino threw out being locked in the office together, in no uncertain detail, and Summer caught herself actually considering it for a second and realized that her hubris was going to ultimately be her downfall in this if she wasn't careful, promptly took back her promise, and shoved Tino into the back room, and shouted through the door, "And think about what you've done!"

And a second later: "Wait, no! Don't! I'm pretty sure jello needs to be the worst thing that gets cleaned off those dart boards this month, okay??"

And honestly? This was fine. If she kept busy fending for herself behind the bar, maybe she'd be too busy to really notice everything else?

It was cute, that she tried, anyway.

You can try to get the band to play something that's not a sex-related song, but you'll probably fail.

You can try to drink yourself past all these feelings, but you'll probably just make it worse.

You can try to go beyond making out on one of the couches, but Summer does have a hose.

You can try to get the door open, but Tino's back there, so...why??

I could try not to repeat myself in OCD, but it's too early for that.

Seivarden wasn't sure a bar was the right place to be this week, but looking at pretty people for a while might be a nice change from the gym. Especially since the tv had decided only to show her the steamiest of Radchaai entertainment.

No, she wasn't going to ogle you, Summer. That would be uncomfortable.

"I sense a theme with the jello shots," Seivarden said, leaning against the bar. "How are you doing?"

Please tell her that the 'steamiest of Radchaai entertainment' involved at least one incident of a 'Radchaai gone wild' moment that involved a compelation of people just removing their gloves. Summer would be so disappointed if it did not.

And honestly, Seivarden, if you didn't ogle her at least a little bit, it was going to do major damage to her already bipolar sense of self-esteem.

"'Tis the season!" Summer pointed out, and although there was some cheerfulness there, there was also a roll of her eyes and a sigh. "And I'm fine," really!, "all things considered. You?"

She was already just setting down the jello shots for her.

Seivarden was going to make an effort not to notice how nice that red hair was, and that the familiar eyeroll was rather adorable.

"Fine!" Seivarden said. "All things considered."

She reached for one of the jello shots and downed it.

"I just hope this ends before Ignis gets here."

You know, the gloves.

Oh, you mean those decadent gloves that you insisted weren't that kind of decadent, Seivarden??

Summer just gave Seivarden a look because it was cute, that she seemed to think that it would work like that, with how long she'd been here.

"This thing usually last at least a week," she reminded her. "And we're building up to prom. It's definitely not ending before Ignis gets here."

Because that was tomorrow.

Summer blinked.

"Do you think we should warn him?"

They should probably definitely warn him.

Although, not gonna lie, she was kind of relishing in the idea of an unwarned Ignis stumbling into this.

Seivarden considered this.

"I think we should. And tell him I can just show his students a movie so that he doesn't have to come here at all this week."

You weren't the one who lived with him, Summer. Seivarden tried not to picture him in the kitchen chopping vegetables, with that nice..."

"Oh, fuck," she muttered to herself.

Don't think she wouldn't catch or ignore that murmured oh fuck, Seivarden. She could guess what that was all about, and, hey, you know, Iggy could get it.

Well, anyone could this week.

Except actually not, because, you know. Boyfriend.

Ugggghhhh.

Still, Summer grinned.

"Are you sure you don't want him coming here at all this week?"

Emphasis on the double entendre there? Hi. Hello. Duh.

That double entendre was hard not to pick up on during a week like this.

"No, I'm not sure, which is why I think it's a good idea."

Next jello shot.

"I'm not even sure he would be interested."

Why was she sharing this with Summer?

"I mean," said Summer, "you never know unless you shoot your shot, right?"

Also an entendre.

It couldn't be helped.

She did, however, already have her phone out, her fingers quick at work dancing over the keyboard with a message.

Try not to be too distracted by them, Seivarden.

"How's this?" she suggested, talking and typing at the same time because she was just good like that. "I'm filling him in on the situation right now and giving him the option: he can come back as usual, or one of us can cover his class for him, you with a movie, me with probably traumatizing his students with jello." She could really go for some jello-trauma this week, really. "And that way, he can make a clear and conscious, informed decision while unaffected about whether or not he wants to risk it."

"That's a good plan," Seivarden said, her eyes already on Summer's fingers.

Third jello shot.

"I hate this week. Not everybody has a boyfriend."

No. Some people were just in denial about their weird hang-ups with their ship captains...

"Yeah, exactly," said Summer, who did have a boyfriend, but look at who was spending all her time at her gazillion jobs so far this week. "So find another person who also doesn't have a boyfriend and go to town. It's not that hard."

And she knew she shouldn't sound annoyed to not have that option for herself right now, but OH WELL.

Seivarden wasn't going to suggest sex to Breq ever again.

"I just prefer to be actually attracted to the person."

It was an island full of hot people, and right now she would settle for 'reasonable attractive'. She snorted.

"I suppose I could download one of those apps."

It may or may not be a joke.

Faye was having a fantastic week, and it was only Wednesday.

She flung herself onto a barstool, reading the shots with no small amount of amusement.

"I love the shots. One of each?" she requested with a bright smile.

Summer looked at Seivarden s if she was offended that she suddenly apparently had three heads, because what?

"I refuse to believe that there is no one available on this island that you don't find even superficially attractive enough to just get off with until this is over, or else what the fuuuuuuuuck happened to you while you were home? Seriously?"

There was a pause.

"Those apps aren't half bad for a quick pick up, either," she added, a bit more eagerly and brightly and far less judgey. "I can definitely help you out with that!"

"I just don't want things to be messy eventually," Seivarden said, due to reasons, even if it wasn't what her previous comment had meant.

Summer's offer made her grin though, and she handed her the phone. "Please."

There hadn't really been anything to clue Nick into this being anything but a great week. And since it felt like a great week, it was time for the bar.

"Those are... definitely some Jell-O shot names."

"Best answer," Summer said with approval as she tried her best not to be too wistful over just Faye's whole presence and attractiveness and the fact that she had a pretty good idea of what that smile was all about, and tried to focus on lining up the shots for her instead.

Which was not a difficult job, so it was not a very good distraction in the slightest.

"Good week so far?" she asked,knowing the answer already, not exactly wanting to hear about it, but she already resigned herself to the fact that this was going to be a very long night for her (god,island, why did everyone have to be so damn ATTRACTIVE?), and she was trying to be positive and just happy for the people that could enjoy it.

"Oh, hey, stranger!" Summer was honestly a little surprised to see Nick, but she was glad for it! It was good to know he still existed and hadn't just nope'd out screaming. Plus, he always had been kind of cute in a really hopeless cause kind of way. "And they sure are! Can I get you any?"

Summer's expression made it very clear that she was wondering when Seivarden had ever let messy get in her way before, but it shifted back to her own grin when the phone was offered out.

"Gimme just a few minutes," she said, already diving into one of them. "And lemme get a good shot for your profile. This lighting is going to do wonders for your cheekbones."

So last night, Barry came up with the great idea to develop an antihistamine that could potentially block the sex pollen. After some initial testing proved positive, he gave it a try himself.

Honestly he felt like it was working until he decided to stress test it by showing up to Caritas.

Nope. It didn't work. All in his head.

But that did not stop him from heading to the bar and giving his favorite bartender a smile.

And no, it wasn't Tino.

"Nice specials. Very topical," Barry said trying to be cheerful and focused.

She was working very hard on not getting back to making things messy. Summer's expression wasn't exactly encouraging. But the enthusiasm that followed made her grin back, even if it was a bit awkward.

"You're a great friend, Summer, do I tell you that often enough?"
