The Perk, Saturday Afternoon

Some things were almost as inevitable as possible future children showing up the day after Prom, and that was a cryptid-related emergency at the least possibly convenient time.

Thankfully, the situation in Baltimore only required the presence of one Kincaid-Price. Which was good because they didn't know if the kids would even be able to leave the island with all the time-and-dimensional-weirdness involved in bringing them here in the first place. And while time-sensitive, it wasn't time intensive, and they'd wrap up in time for dinner.

Liam was making the most of it, which is why he was at the Perk with the trio, orderng frappuchinos. Nothing with actual coffee in it, just the kind with flavour syrups and plenty of sugar. Was that actually any better? Who knew.

"Meep," Vatalija said with a little wave.

“... Hello?” Liam ventured in return, with a wave back.

"I'm Vatalija," she said. "Have you seen my dads?"

“Probably,” Liam said. Because it was a small island and there was a good chance he knew who they were, at least in passing. “Who are your dads?”

She looked kind of... puppet-y, not that he was going to say as much out loud. And hadn’t that puppet kid been a student a few years back?

Stark had tried knocking on Liam's door, after making sure the two children currently in his care were fed maybe Faye's kid too, someone didn't seem very parental, but there had been no answer. He would just have to find him later. Or right now! Right now worked.

"Liam," he said, waving a little as he entered the coffee shop trailed by the two children.

“Stark,” he greeted. “How’s it going?”

Liam currently had three small people sipping at frapp-y beverages with him, so that’s how his day was going.

"I had an interesting morning," Stark said, gesturing to the children. "But you seem to have as well.

Your day was going to get more interesting, Liam!

Ziya offered a small, almost shy wave. Réaltín bounced a few times before yelling "Hi! We were looking for you!"

“You were, huh?” Liam blinked at this small child who seemed... oddly familiar somehow. “Why’s that?”

Nina was, like, in a weird, weird mood today mostly because, yeah, she noticed all those extra kids running around and... and... none of them seemed to belong to her?

And it was, like, not exactly the best way to go into a Saturday but, okay, she hadn't had any kids the first year she'd been here either and last year she'd had a boyfriend and...

(Though that didn't explain the kids with Noct, from last year, and why they weren't here this year, and she was trying not to obsess over what it could mean but, like. She was anyway.)

So she was treating herself to the Perk just because she deserved it and, also because:

"Hi Daaaaaaaaaad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she chirped.

“Nina!” Liam beamed at her. And then glanced at the three kids with him, curious as to how they’d react.

“Ate Nina!” William beamed at her, bouncing over. And then... stopped short because oh right, this was his younger big sister, she might not be as inclined to give him a hug in greeting. “... Hi,” he finished, suddenly shy.

Excuse you, tiny dude, but she knew good and well she'd just been labelled as his big sister and that meant hugs were required.

"Bunso!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she said, and then she was going to sweep him up into a big hug.

So there!

William giggled as he was swept up in that hug. Though now he was curious...

“Do you know me yet?” he asked. “Or did you just figure it out cause you’re smart?”

There hadn’t really been any evidence that he lived here already, and he was pretty sure the portal wouldn’t have let him come if he was already here but... maybe he was visiting one of his aunties or uncle Alex?

And, of course, there was one thing in the Perk that Spero was definitely going to recognize.

"Aunt Nina!"

Random bespectacle child incoming for a hug, on your six!

"I found you! Dad said you would be around here somewhere!"

"And he didn't call me?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!" Nina cried, outraged, immediately, even as she caught that kid up in a hug.

It was a thing today and, like, if she couldn't have her own kids here this weekend, she was going to lavish love on the ones that knew her.

Would Nina like to have an weirder mood? Maybe by meeting an impossible child (or two)?

"Hi!" Réaltín said brightly.

"Hi there," she said cheerfully. "Since you're from the future, I've got to ask: am I related to you in some way?????????"

It was really hard for Spero to stay still right now, especially when all his dads seemed to want to do right now was talk about some serious stuff, which seemed really out of place here, on this island, all filled with light. He told them he was going to look around a little; they told him not to go too far, and when he walked by the coffee shop, he thought that was perfect, he could stop in and see if they had any Ebony for Dad, and then he'd go find that place that did the milkshakes that he remembered Dad telling him about and he could bring them both something back.

Of course, there was a problem when he realized he didn't have any extra gil in his pockets, and then he realized that they probably didn't accept gil here, anyway. So the plan was kind of bust, and he just looked around the place a little in interest because it was all so weird and different but also not really that different, but also pretty cool!

"Hey," Liam called out to the little one who was not currently in the company of any adults. "You okay there, kiddo?"

No offense, Spero, but he was really hoping you weren't another surprise child of his.

"Uhhhhh." Spero actually got questions like that a lot, whenever they rolled into an outpost and he sort of went exploring a little, so even though he seemed thrown off a little at first, he was quick to give the man a bright gap-toothed smile. "Yup! Thanks! I was just...looking around."

And then he was just wandering over to the table, his smile flashing at the other kids, too, because he really didn't get to see many other kids his age, that was kind of exciting for him.

But his attention went back to the man. "Do you know my dads, mister?"

"Autumn," Annie was sighing in protest as she followed in after a blonde teenager an inch or two taller than her, "we just had frappuccinos like two hours ago. Like, maybe some real food, honey."

She was not going to let her daughter turn into the kind of person who spent fifteen bucks a day on coffee, all right? Not on her watch.

"Frappsachinos is real food!" piped up a tiny blonde currently sitting at a table with Liam. "Mommy says so!"

... Verity's idea of food and not-food was absolutely questionable, for the record.

"See, Mom, her mom says so," Autumn said, gesturing to the much-younger blonde like she had a real point.

To Hayley, she added, "Good point, new friend! Your mom sounds smart!"

"Aunt Annie!" Réaltín yelled before running over. Because of course Annie was going to an honorary aunt to the child of two of the other members of Glowy Club. Surprise, Annie!

"...hi!" Annie was just going to roll with it, because this kid was much, much younger than the two who had shown up for her, so it wasn't like she was going to ask her for an explanation. Also, cute. "Hey, sweetie, how are you?"

Maybe also who are you?

Nina had spent fifteen dollars today at the Perk but, like, she'd also been feeding her nephew and, honestly, a treat was good sometimes...

"I'm voting for more fraps!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she called, offering her two cents.

Nina, it should be noted, had never had a frap in her life.

But she couldn't help it. Especially not when her little sister (Hayley) agreed!
