The rocky bits, Tuesday morning
Travis had spent most of yesterday and a good chunk of the night making sure the fire station was as prepped as it could be to absolutely any disaster he could imagine. Earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, even an asteroid strike. He had at least a week's worth of fuel for the generator and vehicles, dry goods and potable water to support up to fifty people through next Monday, sand bags, first aid supplies, epipens, antibiotics, insulin, saline, loads of warm blankets, sunscreen, chemical heat- and coldpacks, bug spray, oxygen tanks and masks, and a hell of a lot of spare fire extinguishers. He was, he believed, as prepared as he could be.
When the ash started to fall from the sky, he stepped out, holding a cloth over his nose and mouth, and scanned the horizon, assuming the volcano he was sure he'd heard rumors about had started to erupt.
Instead, there was some sort of...eerie purple glow coming from the rocky bits across from the station.
"Aliens," he muttered. "I definitely am not prepared for an alien invasion."
Still, never let it be said that anyone from Station 19 in Seattle let nerves keep them from investigating anywhere they could possibly help. He headed across the street, ignoring the mounting dread in his belly, and poked one of the glowing rocks with a stick.
"That's just not right."
[OOOOPEEEEEN! Did you know that Travis canonically gets arrested for assault after an angry bar fight? YOU DO NOW. Come discover the rage-making rocks with him, I dare you]

"Great," Danny grumbled, squaring up to subdue the guy now that he'd apparently gone nuts. "Knew I shoulda brought my cuffs."

Travis let out a growl of frustrated fury and launched himself at Danny's midsection, aiming for a tackle. He'd been a wrestler in school. He'd taken a domestic abuser down this way while wearing heels and a corset.
He was going to feel so bad about this in a few minutes, when the rock wore off.

Before Travis had left, things with Seattle PD hadn't gone quite as spectacularly into the toilet as they eventually would
in season four. But it was still where Chief Dixon had come from, and where the homophobic ass had eventually gone back to. In Travis's pissed off state, he was happy to redirect that unresolved fury onto anyone who happened to be handy. He bounced back a couple steps, light on his feet, then came back in swinging, this time with a punch to Danny's jaw.

Travis's next punch was aimed at Danny's midsection. This was easier when he and the other guy were both drunk. It wasn't as though he'd trained to actually fight people.

"Right," Danny grunted, not quite moving out of the way in time to avoid that, but using Travis' momentum to try to grab his arm and immobilize him. "Of course this is what happens."

And grabbing another glowing purple one, since Danny was clearly so afraid of them.
The rage from the previous rock had barely had time to dim before a fresh dose went blasting through him. Travis stopped snarking and taunting and just chucked the rock at Danny's head, before launching to his feet in another tackle.

It wouldn't be awkward for Travis at all once he came to his senses.

The snarling and struggling kept up for a few more minutes, then started to die down. Then shifted more into a panicked struggle than one for dominance.
"The rocks," he hissed, staring wide-eyed at one of the purple things not far from his head. "It's the rocks, man, let me up!"

"Are you asking if I'm no longer filled with a stupid amount of rage that makes me want to bash your head in," he said, as he tried to catch his breath. "Then, uh. Yeah. We're good."

He leaned back on his hands with a faint wince. "Listen. That cop thing..... Last one I spent much time with was my ex's dad. Who made him be a firefighter in an attempt to 'man him up' and de-gay him. So, you know. That's not about you."

Of course, if the one of the ones Travis thought that about actually didn't, then Travis himself wouldn't exist. Oops.
"Still. Uh. Sorry about that."

That description was funnier in his head. And before there were glowing rocks.
"Do the troopers have any sort of standard operating procedure for this stuff?"
