Furnado Animal Shelter; Monday [05/24].
Since it was her third week now here at the animal shelter, Sakaki knew better than to approach the cats right away. Perhaps a little foolishly, she thought perhaps, if she ignored them entirely at first (no easy feat, though! She didn't think she'd ever done anything so difficult in her life!), it might make them miss the attention and make them happy for it later when she finally doled it out.
So she took care of the dogs in their puppy pen, squee'd a little over the birds and their pretty songs as she fed them and played with them, beamed at the fish doing little turns in their tanks when she sprinkled in some flakes for them, nearly died when one of the turtles poked his head out of his shell as if to say good morning to her, this, that, the other thing...overall, a very productive moring, and easily the longest Sakaki had gone thus far without needing medical attention.
By the time all that was done, the cats were all ready for lounging and napping and she figured that would be perfect, they were all so sleepy, why wouldn't they want cuddles and pets and attenti--
--ion.
Sakaki sighed, moments later, as the vet bandaged up her hand yet again and informed Sakaki that it was a good thing all of those cats were up to date on their rabies shots.
One day, Sakaki thought longingly as her eyes drifted worriedly from the cat who was now grooming himself in an almost triumphant way after the whole ordeal to looking worriedly out the window to the grey skies and hoping it didn't storm until she was safely back at the dorms. One day...
