Wednesday Morning - Fix & Clean Shop

 Dwight stood by the small window and looked out into the streets of Fandom as the sun began to rise on the far side of the island. Even after all this time, those years of military training still stuck with him and Dwight usually found he was welcoming the sunrise pretty much every single day, despite his best efforts to sleep in now and then.

As the sky shifted to lighter and brighter shades he topped off his mug of coffee and headed downstairs. There was one major benefit to having an apartment above the shop- if he ever did manage to sleep in for a change, it would never take him long to get the shop ready and open.

It had been an interesting and eye-opening first week on the island and as he opened up shop for another day, he couldn't help but wonder what the rest of the week had in store. Settling in on the seat behind the counter, Dwight started tinkering with an old radio he had found a few days go, determined to get the antique piece working again.

There was a weird thing happening on the island. And a very new resident who Travis felt compelled to check on in light of said weird thing.

"Arrrrre you doing okay in here?" he asked as he came in. Wait, why was he talking like a pirate?

Dwight looked up from his work on the radio and gave Travis a nod.

"Doing good... really good, better than good actually... all good here."

Dwight stopped, a confused look spreading across his face. It was still early morning and all he had had so far was coffee. Why on earth was he rambling away like he did when he was drunk?

Aaaaand Travis had that chainsaw on hand again. (Along with his helmet, turn out jacket, oxygen mask. . . .) "Yeah. You're affected too, aren't you."

Dwight was about to ask what Travis meant when he realized he was suddenly dressed in one of his old business suits, something he had not worn since before joining the Rangers.

"Travis, what in the world is going on?" Dwight asked a slight whine in his voice as he looked down at the ill-fitting suite jacket. "I feel like Im back in Haven dealing with a Trouble again."

"I don't know what that means," Travis said into the headset he usually wore when he was driving a full-sized fire engine, with all its full sized fire engine noise. "But I'm told Fandom just--does this from time to time."

"Well that's just wonderful. How long does it la...."

Dwight did't get to finish the question. Every coherent thought he had vanished in an instant as he realized he was now standing in his shop shirtless, wearing just his suddenly seemingly tighter jeans with nothing else but his old dog tags on.

"Oh you have got to be kidding me!" he said, sounding and looking a bit embarrassed in that moment.

. . . You know what? Travis wasn't going to complain about that one. He was just going to take a moment to, uh. Admire Dwight's physique, there.

"Ok.... that was.... unexpected."

Dwight cleared his throat somewhat awkwardly, having seen the way Travis was checking him out. To his surprise he felt a strange mix of embarrassed and flattered.

"So... random Fandom thing," he said trying to shift the focus slightly. "Has this sort of thing ever happened before?"

Travis crouched down to peer up at Dwight from a more extreme angle for some reason.

“Not to me? But I haven’t been here that long.”

"Well, at least it doesn't seem to be anything too serious... more annoying and odd than anything really," Dwight mused as he suddenly found himself going from half dressed to wearing his full Haven PD uniform.

Travis was far less impressed by the uniform than the shirtlessness.

"That's one way to look at it."

[alwaysonguard]

"So, other than the oddness today, how are things?" Dwight asked, trying very hard not to freak when he realized he was suddenly wearing his hair back in a terrible man-bun, which he almost never did.

Wonderful impression you are making here Dwight he thought to himself.

"Oh, you know....Fine." Travis was clearly quite confused by that man-bun, yes. "You?"

"Cant complain otherwise.... though this weirdness is going to totally ruin any cool guy points I had been racking up...." Dwight said, clearly a bit frustrated.

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure nobody has any cool guy points around here."

[alwaysonguard]

"I'm sure you got a few to spare still. New guy and all I'm starting from scratch here" Dwight mused.

"Spoken like a man who didn't see all the hissy fits I threw over there not being any other firefighters on the island," Travis said.

While leaning against the wall. Wearing nothing but his turnout pants held up by suspenders.

Now it was Dwight's turn to enjoy the little show the Fandom oddness was giving him now. Under the regular clothes and bulky firefighter uniform, there was a good bit to stand back and admire. Though it didn't take long for his well-trained eyes to fall on the tell-tale scar that ran along Travis' chest.

He didn't have all that long to oggle before Travis was once again in the full firefighter bulk.

He cleared his throat and adjusted his hat.

"Um."

[alwaysonguard]

"Drink?" Dwight offered, suddenly finding himself standing at the shop counter with several glasses and a rather nice looking bottle of wine. "I mean yeah its early still, but think today might just call for it!"

"It is definitely too early," Travis said.

Into his phone.

Because why not.

[alwaysonguard]

Was just as well because a moment later it was all gone.

"Well, wonder how everyone else in town is handling all this. I'm sure it's not just happening to us."

"It's not," Travis said, shirtless all over again. "It was happening to people at the park and the trooper station, too."

[alwaysonguard]

"Sure there will be plenty of tales for the dang squirrels to report on tomorrow' Dwight said, suddenly finding himself holding the guitar that a moment before had been sitting upstairs in the closet.

Making the most of the situation, not knowing how long it would last till things switched up again, Dwight gave the strings a couple strums, still admiring Travis' impressive physique.

Firefighter and all that after all

Well now. How could Travis resist that guitar? He leaned in, clearly going for a kiss.
