There was a new message out on the sandwich board that Amaya sometimes put out in front of the shop to advertise whatever she had going on in that shop that week:

Today's Specials
Swords

Was the sign going to be out there every day without changing in the slightest?

Yes.

Did she think she was funny?

Yes. Very much so.

Was she in the least bit sorry about it, Seivarden?

Not even a little!

The Forge is open!

"So, swords?"

Seivarden leaned against the doorframe, looking amused.

"Swords!" Amaya confirmed, brightly, as her hammer went down on the blade of one such sword. She hammered just a few more times before lifting it up for inspection and approval before her attention shifted over to Seivarden at the door.

"Why? You want one?"

"No," Seivarden said. "What would I do with a sword?"

Especially not when you kept getting beers, Amaya.

"Fight with it, usually," Amaya offered. "Or just admire it. My swords," she hefted up the one she was working on to prove her point, "are definitely worth admiring! Makes a good conversational piece! And it's definitely mightier than a pen, I can guarantee you that much!"

"Conversational piece?"

Seivarden, who had been unaware of sword innuendo for a long time, was now unable not to think about it when Amaya suggested that. The corner of her mouth twitched.

"I mean, sure!" said Amaya, who was constantly clued in on the existence of sword innuendo but almost stubbornly seemed completely unable to actually retain such knowledge. "Just look at the conversation we're already having now, and you haven't even got the thing! Come on." She opened up her arms in an imploring gesture. "You know you want one!"

She was pretty sure a hard pitch was not what Seivarden expected when she moseyed on in here today, but you know what? She was getting one anyway. Not that Amaya expected it to actually work, of course, but, hey! You never knew!

"They're even on special!"

"Yes, well, you've been ignoring my specials," Seivarden pointed out with a grin.

"That's not true," Amaya countered, lifting a finger. "I definitely tried it the first time, and, last night, I didn't ignore anything, you just offered me beer right out the gate, and I took it. That one's on you."

"Yes, but you would have ordered a beer," Seivarden said. "And at least you can drink the arrack, the only thing I can do with swords are talk about them."

She added: "Well, sort of."

That sort of was getting a look to accompany an arched eyebrow and Amaya's hands on her hips. "That's not even close to the only thing you can do with them," she said, "and you know it. You just refuse to acknowledge the other things because you're just too stubborn."

Then she snorted.

"Wonder if you'd be so stubborn about those other things if someone finally just gave you a good poke with one of them."

"I have armour," Seivarden pointed out. "At most a sword would shove me against a wall, if the wielder was strong enough."

"And probably be pretty annoying, too," Amaya countered, "if the wielder was persistent enough."

Her grin went a little crooked, and her thumb hitched behind her shoulder.

"I got plenty we could try if you don't believe me. I can be pretty stubborn, too, you know. And not everyone's got armor, especially not like you've got, maybe you could be the one doing the poking."

"You want to poke me with swords? Or the other way around? Or both?"
