Eric hated how late the sun was setting these days--it really put a crimp in his after-dark activities if he didn't want to also bleed from the ears--so he wasn't at the bar until well after Tiny had opened. He gave the guy a baleful look when he was offered a new mango daiquiri that Tiny had been messing around with.

"Do I strike you as someone who spends a ton of time on the beach, laying out and catching fire? That's the others."

Tiny handed him a SoCo and TruBlood instead.

"Better."

The Devil's Nest was open. And not beachy.

Octavia didn't tend to come to the club much outside of her own or Lucifer's nights (and even less now that she no longer drank most of what they served), but Duke and Lucifer were both at the other bar for class, and she felt like getting out of port, so...

Here she was. Giving a bro nod type greeting to Tiny, and another, even smaller one to Eric.

"Doesn't sound like a vacation in here tonight," she rasped.

Eric grinned. "Long, sunny walks on the beach and vampires...doesn't end well," he said.

Octavia raised her eyebrows, though very faintly. "That's not just in the movies?"

Look, she knew better than to trust movies for anything. Not that she even watched them much, these days.

"Some of what the books and movies say is true," Eric said. "Not the sparkling in the sunlight part--that's bullshit--but if the sun hits my skin, I'll burn."

"Noted," Octavia said.

... Sorry if her deadpan, matter-of-fact delivery made that sound at all ominous.

Anyway, her brow furrowed just a little right after. "Didn't even know sparkling was supposed to be a thing."

"There were books and a movie," Eric said, rolling his eyes, "and were really popular for a bit. It's like the author had never met a vampire. Or a werewolf, who are actually incredibly annoying."

Even if they looked like Joe Manganiello.

"I'll take your word for it," Octavia rasped. "I've only met a werefox."

Eric made a face. "What's a werefox?"

[okteiviakom]

"Same as a werewolf, just a fox?"

Octavia wasn't exactly an expert, so that was the best she could do.

"That sounds even more annoying," Eric decided based on absolutely nothing but his dislike of werewolves.

Octavia could guess there wasn't much more than that behind it, but still:

"Why?"

"Foxes are more annoying than wolves?" Eric said with a shrug. "Not that I spend a ton of time outside. Once humans invented indoor plumbing I never looked back."

"She didn't seem annoying to me," Octavia replied with a little shrug. (Also, she really needed to check up on Malia.) "But I also don't always care about plumbing, so..."

There was a reason Lucifer kept calling her a cave woman.

"We still doing shirtless and leather pants?" Jaye asked, like a normal person entering a bar.

"Of course," Eric said. "Jessica sniped most of the regulars for a class right now, though."

[fates_jaye]

"They should come here afterwards, shirtless and in leather pants," she reasoned, reasonably.

"Like a field trip," Eric said, grinning.

[fates_jaye]

"A field trip of drunk people," Jaye nodded. "I probably did something like that in high school."

[texted3times]

"They might need name tags," Eric said. "That's a field trip thing, right? I've never been on one."

[fates_jaye]

"We can give them name tags. It's not like we'd need a bus or chaperones so we can bring some field trip aspect in," Jaye said, and added, "You missed nothing there."

"So a field trip to a bar isn't normal?" Eric teased.

[fates_jaye]

"No, it's usually to somewhere educational... which a bar can be," Jaye realized.

"You can learn a lot of things here," Eric said.

Most of them illegal, unsanitary, or a fun mix of both!

"Well, yeah, it's a bar run by a vampire," Jaye said. "And I guess you can learn to throw axes."

"Have you done it yet?" Eric asked. "It's so much fun."
