Fix & Clean- Tuesday Afternoon

Dwight was actually feeling the best he had for some time.  The hole nonsense was over and didn't seem to be returning and the random teleporting was done for the time being as well.  He had supplies again and was glad to be getting back something resembling a normal routine.

It had been far too long since he had been able to work in the shop and there was a lot of work to do- mainly getting back to those shelves of Hannibal's. They had already been in the not so great shape when he had started working on them but ending up in a hole had done nothing to improve their condition.

The Fix & Clean shop was open!

Sometime in the middle of the day, Hannibal came by; normally, he'd have brought food, but he was limited in what he could do, since his home was still only nominally livable. However, he'd gone by to check on things and discovered a lovely and functional door with a note from Dwight saying he'd fixed the lock as well and Hannibal should come by for the keys.

So, here he was, with a nice bottle of homemade beer that had made it through the destruction, and some prime rib, horseradish, and arugula sandwiches. Not as fancy as he'd prefer, but hopefully Dwight would appreciate them.

He walked in and looked around, checking out his shelves. "They look better already. Again."

"It took me little time to recover," Hannibal said. "My house, on the other hand..." He shrugged. What could you do, apart from repair it again?

"Thank you for fixing the door as well; you didn't have to, but I appreciate it." He lifted his bag. "A thank-you lunch." He started unpacking the sandwiches, and handed Dwight the bottle. "And a drink, for now or later."

"Mm." Hannibal's lips twitched. "I wouldn't want any dangerous criminals getting in."

He reached out and took the keys. "Thank you. Do you make copies here? I have a contractor coming in for the structural work, and he'll need one. As will you, if you'd like to assist. I know he can always use an extra pair of hands."

"The town has largely learned to roll with things," Hannibal said. "I probably would be, too, if I had still had power and gas. Which have now been reestablished. Everything that can be put back has been; I'm left with a lack of shelving," he nodded toward the shelves, "some broken cabinets downstairs, and in need of a new porch and several glass doors and windows. I will also need to replace a foosball table, dishes and silverware, one of the fish tanks, and most of my food. I shudder to think how much worse it would be without Wanda's help."

He sighed. "And I've got one flamingo that now considers itself entitled to wander in and out of the house."

"Mine was mostly used up or broken in the fall, rather than gone bad," Hannibal said. "But I will need to restock a good bit of my pantry. I may have to travel to a few other worlds. Fortunately I enjoy it, but it will still need to be done."

He set out a sandwich and waved Dwight toward it. "Please, help yourself."

Hannibal nodded polite acknowledgement of both statements and sat. "I believe the store in town has a remarkably varied apology section of cards. I distinctly remember 'I'm sorry I tried to eat you when we were both animals'. I wouldn't worry about it."

"It comes and goes here," Hannibal said. "I have found my times as a snake restful, if unproductive. And you're welcome. One day I will actually throw a dinner party. Perhaps when my house is fully restored, should that day come."

Just a few months without a disaster, please, Fandom.

"It would," Hannibal agreed. "And thank you. I'm beginning to think I should keep you on retainer."
