Even though it had been a few days since, Sakaki had been thinking a lot about the discussion she'd had in her philosophy class, about whether the cats really couldn't help being malicious toward her, or if their intent really was that viscious and cruel. No matter what, though, she couldn't imagine it was due to cruelty, she just couldn't! Her eyes got all watery just thinking about the idea that such sweet creatures could be so intentionally mean! But there had to be something, right? Why they responded to her the way they did. She had to figure it out if they were going to make any progress, because, if she didn't, then it seemed to suggest that they really did just hate her and that was...

...that was...

...unacceptable!

So she tried something a little bit different today, keeping her distance from the cats no matter how much she wanted to go over and pet on when they were sleeping and snoring adorably, or when they let out an irressitable kitty yawn, or were playing around with each other in an impossibly cute game of kitten wrestling.

No, she stayed her distance, but she did leave little special treats for them here and there. They might not realize that the treats were coming from her, not at first, but maybe eventually...she just had to fight for kindness with kindness.
