Devil's Nest | Sunday Evening

Silver knew that people were dealing with some things today. While he was sympathetic to their plight, he did mentally pat himself on the back for no dead people showing up to see him. Of course, it was easier to avoid when you did your very best to only have superficial relationships for the most part.

So he would sit here with his rum, drinking for his usual reasons instead of sad ones.

And here was Rey, coming in like normal, for a totally normal drink after everyone had left the island.

"Think it might get busy today?" she asked as she took her seat.

"Judging from the last year's worth of Sundays...no," Silver said, going to get Rey her usual soda. "But one Sunday might surprise me."

"This weekend has kind of sounded like a lot for some people," Rey said.

Not her, though. She was fine.

"But on this island they might have gone straight for repression instead of drinks."

Stark was definitely dealing with some things today. He was making the very healthy choice to deal with those things by going to a bar and attempting to get very drunk. That wouldn't make tomorrow any easier to deal with but it might help with tonight. A little. Maybe.

"I could use," he said quietly, "something very strong, I think."

"That's a very broad request," Silver said. "I could give you straight whiskey, that seems to do the trick."

"I'm not feeling particular about it," Stark said. "That would be fine. Just...something."

Silver nodded, because that reply totally worked for him. He grabbed some of the better whiskey on hand and poured some over ice. "Here. Sorry if it's disgusting, I don't usually drink whiskey."

Anakin slunk in. "Whiskey," he said. "Big one. Please."

"Thank you for being specific," Silver said. "I'm not the type of bartender who is good with suggestions."

Because he essentially drank one thing.

Anakin's lips quirked up. "I've had enough surprises for one weekend," he said.

"So I've heard," Silver said, sitting a whiskey in front of him. "I'm one of the lucky few who didn't get a surprise. For which I am very thankful."

It was not the time for ridiculous and petty feuds, though Stark would be disappointed later to find out he'd missed a tiny green man hitting Anakin with a stick. For now he just nodded and raised his own glass in Anakin's direction.

"The end was hard," Stark agreed. "Endings are always hard." Even repeated ones. Even ones where the possibility of another visit, someday, still existed.

It was nigh on the end of the semester, which meant Edward knew with some certainty that if he made an attempt to leave, he might actually succeed. Which had its ups and downs and, well, who was he not to drown the latter in some drink while he still could?

"Just get me a full serving of something modern, if you please," he said, sitting down at the bar.

Silver laughed lightly. "Well, that's everything as far as I'm concerned. Sure you don't want to be more specific?"

"Depends on what year you're from, I reckon," Edward said. "I'm from 1715, myself. Planning to head back soon, so I'm hopin' to drink something to remember this island by."

Dwight was not having a good night. At all. He had managed to keep himself together most of the night. But as he walked out of the woods and headed back to town that familiar heaviness rose and filled him inside.

He had done this before. He had lost Lizzie once and now he had lost her again. Willingly this time, but was that really any better? He had gotten to say goodbye this time and let her go rather than having her snatched away like the day she had died. But was it really any better that he hadn't tried harder to keep her here this time?

Maybe it was because he was distracted with the argument in his own head or something else. But whatever the reason when Dwight finally really looked to see where he was going he was standing outside the Devil's Nest. Without another thought he walked in and took a seat sigh a sigh.

"Something strong... really strong" he said to Silver. "Whiskey, rum, not really that picky at the moment."

"That's the theme for tonight," he said, grabbing the whiskey. "We're going to run low on the strong stuff at this point."

"Won't matter so long as I can get one or two of the good ones in me" Dwight said with a forced smirk. "Cheap stuff will work just as good after that point."
