Turtle & Canary; Monday [08/23].
It would have been impossible to have your dead actual grampa who was buried in your backyard while another dimension's version of your grampa secretly took his place to show up some weekend and have it not be weird, but after a so very handwavey....interesting few days, Summer was over it and ready to move on. After all, it turned out that Rick had really only manipulated his body chemicals to make the portal think that he was there to make amends with Summer, but they both agreed that they had spiritually moved on from that moment a long time ago, so the real reason he was there was to try and switch places back with the other Rick, citing that some dumb portal wasn't going to care which Rick it was, as long as it got a dead Rick back in the end.
Summer had told him that she wasn't really sure it worked that way, and she was accused of being killjoy who hated science, which, I mean....ouch?
But he'd also come around by the end to say that she'd actually done pretty well for herself, and he was actually a little proud of her, because here he thought she was just going to pretty much amount to nothing and it was actually good to be proven wrong on that one. So...thanks, she guessed?
There was also that whole bit about him being surprised that she'd actually aged, because apparently it was a Rick-thing to sometimes stunt the growth of time. "I don't know," he'd said, "I just sort of figured we were in one of the ones where you'd pretty much be perpetually seventeen."
Which, cool, thanks for the nightmares, dead Grampa Rick!
But whatever, he was gone, he hadn't been able to enact his masterful bait-and-swRick plan, and Summer was back to work like normal, doing inventory and making a few extra orders in prep for a new semester.
Which included taking a peek at the incoming schedule so she could maybe plan accordingly on predicting certain necessities, and she was a little surprised to see the class that she'd submitted was not on there. Well, there was a multiverse class, and she was teaching it, but it wasn't the one she'd submitted, and...
"Oh, no.
"Well, Apu," Summer sighed as she tucked her phone away, "it was nice knowing you."
Because she was clearly now a dead woman walking.
But hey. At least if she was going to die now, she had lived to see twenty-one and she wasn't dying single, so, you know, she really couldn't complain. And maybe in a few years she'll even get to come back to make amends thanks to some glowing rock in the woods, right?
