Community Center Class: Making The World A Better Place (Tuesday Evening)
"Welcome back," Yang said cheerfully, once everyone arrived to the Community Center room that was now filled with... boxes. So many boxes.
"If you pay attention to the mainland news, you may have heard that a hurricane really wacked the heck out of the Southern and Eastern United States recently," she continued. "So, I reached out to the Red Cross, and we're now a temporary volunteer site, so we can help out."
"In our case, by packing emergency supply boxes! Which, is a skill. What DO you need in an emergency? How do you know? In a moment of panic, deciding what is a necessity and what isn't can be difficult. So, we're gonna talk about what makes a good emergency supply kit, and what maybe you should have in your grab-and-go bag under your bed."
Everyone had one of those, right? Right?
"So, first off, I printed out the official list from Ready.gov for all of you," Yang said, handing out the paper lists. "But for a personal emergency kit? You REALLY need extras of your medications, but be sure not to let them lapse. Know where your official paperwork is, like your birth certificate, passport, etc. Keep charged batteries, both the disposable kind and the reuseable ones. There's small ones you can get to keep your phone charged, some of them are even solar-powered! There's also bigger reuseable ones that can even jump a car."
"If you can get a portable generator, great, but those can be expensive and hard to get/upkeep. Do you have a pet? Make sure you have their vet paperwork and their food and meds! If you have any food in your kit, rotate it out before it goes bad."
"And, because we're Fandom Island, I'm sure most of us have weapons in our go-bags, so be sure you have your weapon maintenance equipment. I have to have spare parts for my arm!"
"But... that's probably not a problem for, like, regular people that have been displaced from their homes, or are still there but in bad situations."
"So grab a box, and the list that goes with it! All the storage boxes are labeled, let's work together to get these packages ready to send out! And if you need someone to lift something heavy, yell for me or Sidon."

Re: During the Lecture
A corkscrew, tape recorders, and C4 were nowhere on the list, either.
His experience was perhaps an outlier. He'd just go off the list.
Pack Boxes!
- A tiny stove! So Cute!
- Fire Extinguisher
- water purification tablets and a collapseable water container
- Two of the portable power banks
- First aid kit
- myler blankets
- KN 95 masks & disposable gloves
- Canned soup, granola bars, and a can opener
Some boxes have special requests, like mac & cheese, pet food, socks... be generous, and make sure everyone gets what they need. Feel free to work solo, or team up with other people if you want the social aspect. Yang will be getting these to the Red Cross after class.
Re: Pack Boxes!
He was quietly filling a box, looking at every item before it went in. He'd be happy for help. Or to help someone else.
Re: Pack Boxes!
"Need any travel bar soap for the boxes down there?" he asked holding up a large baggie of tiny soap bars. "I know they are essential and all... but I got enough over here to put ten per box. And that seems like a bit overkill," he added with a laugh.
Re: Pack Boxes!
"You don't get to be known as the town 'fixer' and 'cleaner' without packing your share of relief boxes and care packages."
Re: Pack Boxes!
If he spent a bit of extra time making sure the ones with pet food requested got plenty of everything, that was his prerogative.
He also made sure the first aid kits had plenty of bandages. You never knew.

Talk to Yang
Re: Talk to Yang
He had world-ending powers, sure, but super strength? He barely even had usual strength.
Re: Talk to Yang
She could probably carry at least three at a time, so long as they didn't weigh a ton each.
Re: Talk to Yang
Was that a good number? He had no idea
and neither do I.OOC
