Blackstone Foundry and Forge; Friday [09/17].
Amaya had just finished up another order from the Daventry Guard for more spears (she sort of wondered, for a peaceful country, what were they even doing with all those spears?), and she didn't really have any other projects or jobs on deck, which meant that she was mostly going to be spending her time in the shop that day tumbling down a little bit of a personal project rabbit hole that started with thinking that maybe that rapier on the wall wasn't really selling because the hilt on it wasn't quite fancy enough, so let's give it an upgrade, and now she was working on twisting and twirling and looping metal around the hilt as if she was trying to make the most convoluted fancy twisty hilt the world had ever seen on a sword.
It was just kind of easy to get carried away! But, hey, if anyone was looking for a hilt so elaborate that you couldn't even use the darn thing, well! Amaya Blackstone had you covered!
With lots and lots of twisty ropes of fancy metal.
The Forge is open!

Today was no different when he passed by, except today he had a reason to stop by. He needed to talk to the expert in town. So there he was ducking slightly as he stepped through the doorway inside.
"Hey Amaya," he called out as he entered. "How's it going? Looks like quite the project you have going on!"
no subject
"Huh," she noted. "I suppose it is!"
She moved it around in her hand a little to point out the exact spots on the decorative hilt that would be incredibly problematic for anyone actually trying to use the thing, and decided she'd worry about that later, and her attention shifted back to Dwight with a nod.
"And it's going well! How 'bout with you? Anything in particular bring you in?"
Please say yes, Dwight, she clearly needed a new project.

"Well, I know you specialize in weapons" he said with a glance around at the abundance of sharp pointy instruments of death (SPID). "But I was wondering if you ever work on things other than weapons? Like tools and hardware and things like that?"
Cuz he might have something for you to help him with.

"That's actually kind of what I want to ask you about. I've got the basic inventory set up at the shop finally. Nothing too fancy or extra just yet. So i was wondering if you could help me get a few nice pieces made for the shop? Like a few nice wrought iron light fixtures or a set of hardware for some cabinets and what not. Would like to have a few nice pieces for people. And id much rather give the work to the local pro than pay to have some stranger make them and ship them to me."
Dwight grinned and looked at Amaya for a response.

Because let's be real, if that sword hilt she was working on was any indication, she didn't exactly know what the word stop meant at just two.
"Got anything specific in mind?" she then wondered. "Or should I start just working up some sketches? I probably even have a couple of pieces on hand right now, even, if you want to have a look at those. Mostly door hinges. That was sort of what most of my own fix-it work tended to be when someone needed it. Doors."
And one table.
But she wasn't about to mention that.

On the sheets were a few rough sketches and ideas for
few different light figure ideas, some basic ideas for hardwear and a few other random ideas for pieces.

Until she brought it with her and made a killing in shiny gold coins off of it, anyway.

He consider that other bit of information and nodded slowly.
"I've gone a few months with no electricity or modern conveniences. And that was rough enough. I guess I could manage long term if there were no other options. But I do end up missing hot water and running water fairly quickly" he added with a knowing chuckle.

Why, yes, she did need to force some sort of water pun in there somewhere.
"I take it, then, you're from a place not too far removed from this one?" A glove hand waved in the air. "More or less."

"I'm from earth, same general timeline as we are in right now. Though I did evidently lose ten years thanks to the island shenanigans. Though most of the advances and changes that I have to catch up on are limited to technology- cell phones, computers, and whatever the heck TikTok is..." he said scratching his head slightly.
"But yeah modern conveniences and all are well known and sadly taken for granted by most people."
