Thursday- Fix and Clean Shop
Dwight was busy in the shop downstairs early that morning, as usual. A fresh pot of coffee had just finished brewing and sat on the counter tempting him for a refill of his mug again. He had lost track of how long he had been up for, but he had yet again watched the sun rise from his apartment upstairs. And rather than going for another run, Dwight decided to work down in the shop and check out the latest supply delivery that had come in the other day.
With the newly repaired radio playing softly, Dwight MIGHT have found himself singing along to the current song as he worked. The shop was coming together nicely and he finally had enough extra inventory and variety to start organizing the shop by categories. So, there he was, organizing and taking stock of the inventory as he went, after getting another cup of coffee of course.

Talk to Dwight
Re: Talk to Dwight
the competitionthe shop in the first place.Well, three levels. Diaz lived next door, too, and she had some stuff for her as well, so it was just being efficient!
"Hey, there, Dwight," she greeted with a wave of her non-lugging hand and took a moment to get a good scope of the place. "How's things?"
Re: Talk to Dwight
and the obvious clanging."Hey Amaya" he said with a smile as he came over. "Things are good, thanks. Need any help with that?" he offered, motioning towards the cumbersome looking bag.
Re: Talk to Dwight
That said, she was still hoisting it on over toward Dwight.
"Well, they're yours," she said, "so you'd mostly just be helping me get 'em to the right place. Managed to pump out some of those fixtures you were talking about. Mostly hinges and handles and the like, a few bolts and latches, too, while we're at it. Figured I'd get at least a good batch out for starts, before other jobs start to muddy up the mix."
Because she had had a very productive 3MD after all!
Re: Talk to Dwight
"Feel free to look around the shop if you want. And let me know if there's anything you want me to put together for you, or what I owe you otherwise for these."
He might not be the town's go to for the metal working but he did take a certain degree of pride in his furniture building capabilities and what not. Because, he had made the bed frame, table, and the chairs upstairs in the apartment after all.... not that anyone would really know that. But still.
Re: Talk to Dwight
handwavey priceandhandwavey again, for the types each, especially since it's rare for me to encounter something I can't quite fix on my own in exchange, although I am wondering if you're a fair hand at anything electrical...It's a bit shocking," and here she paused, should anyone want to actually appreciate the pun, thank you very much, "....how complicated some of that still is for me..."Re: Talk to Dwight
Dwight considered the question for a moment. "I can manage some basic wiring work. What was it you had in mind?"
Re: Talk to Dwight
Which was currently occupied by 'hit it with a hammer a few times and if that still doesn't work, toss it because if it can't be fixed, it probably isn't worth keeping around, anyway.'
Amaya had thrown out a lot of coffee makers.
Re: Talk to Dwight
Dwight nodded towards the radio at the end of the counter.
"Pulled that out of a trash pile on the side of the road a week or so ago and got it fixed up and working again. Took a week of tinkering and a few new parts and such. But it's working again," he said with a somewhat proud grin.

"Hello there!" she called cheerily, approaching the man behind the counter with a bright smile. "Am I in the right place if I've found myself in need of a handyman?"
Oh, no, was that an outdated term? It had been so long since she'd needed something like this. (Or, again, since she had gone in person and not sent Kate or something.)
Re: Talk to Dwight
Re: Talk to Dwight
Possibly a slight exaggeration. Slight.
Re: Talk to Dwight
"Well, that's no good at all. Let's see what we can do about that Ms. Adler. What's the most pressing issue we need to start with?" Since you know, there seemed to be quite a bit potentially going on here.
Re: Talk to Dwight
And then if she was impressed she'd find all kinds of projects for him. Nothing Irene loved more than finding a new person to befriend and overpay and boss around for awhile.
Re: Talk to Dwight
Well, there was a problem... he just wasn't fully seeing it quite yet.
"I am going to assume there is more than just the one light fixture. I can come and get something up to replace the one that fell for the time being. Are you looking at replacing all the fixtures so they match or does that no matter all that much?"
Re: Talk to Dwight
And given that Irene was in here wearing Armani and with her hair elegantly done on a random Thursday, it was probably obvious that this was a classy sort of atmosphere she was trying to create.
"You haven't been in town long, have you?" she added, curious. "I'm fairly recently returned, myself, but I don't remember there being any sort of handy person around before."

Hey, it wasn't far from home, and far be it from Miguel to pass up the opportunity.
He came into the store and perched on a chair. "Hey, Dwight. How's your day?"
Re: Talk to Dwight
Dwight walked over to the coffee pot and grabbed one of the larger mug from the rack above it and filled it.
"And how about you? Any news or drama from back home?" he asked as he set the mug down in front of Miguel. "How's Gabriel and the team?"
Re: Talk to Dwight
Miguel toasted him with the mug when he handed it over, and took a good drink before answering.
"Gabe's fine, as far as I know; haven't spoken in a while. I'll probably check in soon. Team got another version of Kitty, from the bar? But much younger. So that's weird."
He shrugged. "How's all the wood and metal treating you?"
Re: Talk to Dwight
"Glad to hear there's no major emergencies" Dwight said with a nod. "Shop's going pretty good. Finally got enough inventory I can start organizing things and getting different sections set up."
You have some light fixtures, hinges, hardware accessories, and a few odds and ends Dwight, don't kid yourself.
"Picked up a new client..." he said his voice trailing off a little. "So that's a good thing" Dwight said, trying to force a confident grin and a grateful tone.
