Blackstone Foundry and Forge; Friday [10/01].
Now that it was officially the Spooky Month, Amaya could technically start doing Spooky Stuff for the shop, right? Granted, she supposed there wasn't anything wrong with doing spooky stuff whenever, but there was just something about this month in particular that made her actually want to get into the spirit (HA!) of one of this world's holidays.
Either that, or she had been spending a good portion of the work doing a lot of practice on making silverware, and so now she had a whole bunch of practice knives, spoons, and forks, and she knew a lot of ways to turn them into various styles of spiders.
Weld 'em up, scorch 'em black, scatter them aesthetically around the shop? She was sure it would catch a few eyes and maybe open up a few wallets, here and there!
Especially those knife ones!
The Forge is open!

"Sure hope no one who stops by today has arachnophobia," Dwight said with a somewhat cautious glance at the spiders.

"Best way to overcome a fear's to face it head-on, I say," she declared, with a lift of her chin. "So if you ask me, turns out I'll be doing them a favor."
She hefted her hammer over her shoulder as she nodded her greeting. "Dwight," she said. "You're not a bit squeemish over spiders, now, are you?"
Which, considering the size of him, would be kind of adorable.
But also, considering the size of some of the spiders around where Amaya was from, would also be completely understandable and fair!

Yes, yes... it was silly, but hey if Indy could have his fear of snakes Dwight could have his dislike of spiders.
"Can only find a spider crawling on you while your trying to sleep so many times before it starts clouding you view of them. And there were some pretty nasty ones out where my unit was serving during the war. Like the Camel Spider.... So yeah, not a huge fan."
Dwight looked over at Amaya and gave a reassuring grin. "But these ones are fine... so long as they don't suddenly come to life or anything" he added with a laugh.

But with a brush of her hands against each other and a wipe of her gloves on her skirt, her attention turned to him a little more focused. "But enough creepy crawlies, metal or otherwise," she said. "What can I do you for this time, Dwight?"
And if the answer was 'more work,' well, they could just skip right past Halloween and call this Christmas.

"Figured I'd stop by and see how you were doing. Got a new shipment of lumber in so thought might see if there was anything you needed."
No, wasn't like he was desperate for something to keep himself busy and distracted with. What would ever give anyone that idea?
no subject
"Hmmmm." Amaya hummed a little thoughtfully, hand stroking her chin and doubtlessly leaving a little bit of a scorch mark there that she would barely notice. "Nothing comes to mind," she admitted, but, considering she herself had been hoping he'd shown up to give her more work, only to discover that maybe he'd be looking for some himself and that perhaps she did owe him one, she got to thinking....
"Although...."
Her eyes narrowed a little speculatively at Dwight before she mused, "There is a project I'm working on that could potentially use a nice fancy box to keep it in. Not anything as big as a table or a bed or anything like that, but I've got a feeling you're a better hand at the wood stuff than I am, and it's for Dr. Lecter, so, don't know if you've had the chance to meet him yet, but that means we're talking real fancy."
Which she could do in spades with weaponry, but nice little boxes to keep your custom made silverware sets? That was another story all together.

Dwight glanced at Amaya for a moment before he ventured. "What exactly is going into the box? I have some nice pieces I could work with to get something nice and fancy done up for him."
no subject
"But maybe," she mused, "it might be nice to have a fancy box to keep all those pieces in when not in use, something a little more elegant than just a drawer. That's something that fancy people tend to have, right? Nice boxes for all their nice silverware?"
no subject
Though to be honest, he had an idea of who might have had the sticky fingers in the group. But Dwight wasn't about to say anything about that.
"But that seems to be for the best if he's getting a custom set made by the local pro" Dwight offered with a genuine smile. "And I can definitely put together a nice box for them. Maybe something like this?" he mused as he pulled out the pad of paper from his coat and made a quick idea sketch.
"Can add an embellishment to the top or something to match any design you have on the pieces themselves. Shouldn't be problem at all."
no subject
Well, actually, Amaya's version would have preferred more spikes, but she had edited her version a bit to better suit her client.
no subject
Because you know, staying busy was a thing and there was usually more than one project in the works for Dwight at any give time.... even if it was just his own to do list he was working through.
"How soon are you needing the box done? Can always come over to the shop or I can bring things here after I get a little ways into it so we can collaborate more easily."
no subject
"Probably not for a while," she admitted. "I still need to touch base with Dr. Lecter on what sort of style he'd like. Got a few prototypes to show him, and I'm sure he has a few ideas of his own, but once we settle on something, I'll let you know and we can hit the ground running."
no subject
"Sounds good. I will work on some basic ideas and maybe make a test piece or two. Can always have them at the shop to sell. Will be me a chance to work on a few idea and test a few things out since its been a while since I've done something quite like this."
no subject
She gave him a faint grin.
"In case you needed something to do, anyway."
Like they were both cut from the exact same workaholic repressive cloth or something over here...
no subject
"Tell ya what, I'll throw one or two together as practice while I wait for everything to come together. You can let me know what you think and what we might want to keep and what we might want to change for the silverware box."
Ya know, practical prototypes... that sort of thing. Come to think of it, there was at least one other person he knew on the island who had an affinity for knives, so maybe Amaya was on to something here....
no subject
You know what else she was a big fan of?
Prototypes!
"Sounds perfect," she said, nodding, before another grin surfaced. "Really looking forward to seeing what you come up with, Dwight."
no subject
Dwight grabbed the pad of paper and pen and slipped them back into his pocket as he started to head out.
"Take care, and thanks!"
