Given that it was now October and Halloween was in full swing, Irene had more than just the standard sexy costumes on display. She'd also brought out a collection of erotic Halloween-themed art, in case you wanted something a little sexier than tombstones and cobwebs in your decorations.

She herself was still toying with what she wanted to do as far as a costume. Something sexy? Something campy? Something sexy and campy? Something deliberately not sexy to defy expectations?

(No, that one was off the table. She couldn't bring herself to wear a hot dog suit or something.)

Dwight had a lot to get ready in the few days he had before the weekend and the school trip he now suddenly found himself a part of. One of the things at the top of his list was to stop by Irene's shop and touch base before he went MIA.

"Hey Irene, this a good time?" he asked, giving the costume display a side glance and a slight smirk as he walked in.

"It's always a good time, Dwight," Irene told him with a warm smile, looking up from where she was going over an inventory list at the counter. "How are you?"

"Doing good. Thanks" Dwight said, returning the smile. "Just wanted to stop by and let you know I am going to be going off island next week. Got me a spot on the class trip so will be a bit MIA. Didn't want you thinking I was skipping out on ya or anything," he added with a chuckle.

"Oh, how fun! Whose guest will you be?" she asked, actually clasping her hands together in delight. "Unless you're teaching and just didn't share before."

Irene really should have found a teacher to bribe. Or blackmail, but she was really trying to curb those impulses these days.

"Not a teacher yet, though i have been debating it lately. Amaya was looking to use her plus one and invited me. Sounds like a good time. And my first time off the island since getting here."

"You and Amaya, hmm?" Irene asked with a playful little lift of her eyebrows.

Sure, it could be (and likely was!) a platonic plus-one. Wasn't going to stop Irene from being a curious little Cupid about it.

"Yeah, kinda caught me off guard when she asked. But I figured why not? We've kinda become friends here recently. And no point letting a free trip go unused right?"

Dwight looked at Irene and saw the smirk and gave her one of his own.

"Though totally just an as-friends thing" he added.

"Oh, certainly," Irene agreed, privately thinking that love bloomed from friendship all the time!

(Though also kind of good news for her, since she'd rather liked the three-minute-date she'd had with Amaya. Always cute to be able to make someone blush.)

"Boston, correct? Beautiful city." Not that Irene had been in years.

"Yes, Boston for the week. I havent been since before I enlisted so it will be interesting to see how much things have changed" Dwight stated with a grin.

"I wanted to make sure you were ok with the break from getting the renovations around here started. If you had any thoughts or ideas I can work on some sketches or notes for things so I can hit the ground running when we get back."

Irene waved a hand. "I'm not overly fussed about it, Dwight, no problem. If you want to work while you're on holiday, I certainly won't stop you, but isn't that rather the point? There's no rush, I promise. I'd rather hear that you had a lovely time on the swan boats or went to some sort of...Red Sox game or something. Oh, wait, baseball's a springtime thing, isn't it?"

Irene would not have known the answer even if she had been from a country where they played a lot of baseball, for the record.

"Believe we will be there for the Marathon. Not sure what else they may have us doing. Will be good in any case "

"Did you qualify?" Irene asked dryly, without missing a beat.

"haha no. I'm so out of shape I think my old Drill Sargent at boot camp would kick me out" Dwight said with a laugh. "Few too many burgers and fires... and milkshakes. Especially after last weekend!"

"I'm sure there'll be plenty more of that on the trip," Irene replied with a cheery smile. "The food, I mean. That was one of the things I liked about it, when I visited. That and learning a little about the history of your country."

"So, in other words, what you are saying it that I should plan on blowing the diet this week and doing a lot of extra runs around the island to make up for it when I get back?" He said with a smirk. "Got it!"
