Rey's warehouse- Friday

Since she was heading home next week, Rey could have gone overboard with training again, but instead she'd brought a couple of the texts to the warehouse. She would be bringing them with her for translation reasons, so she was trying to be more familiar with what she wanted to focus on. Besides, she wasn't sure Anakin had ever actually seen these in person.

So if you needed Rey, she'd be sitting on the floor with her back against a crate, with a datapad and notes in front of her. She probably looked like a college student, but Jedi.

Anakin, used to finding her somewhere on the obstacle course, came in and went, "Huh," to see her. "Good afternoon."

"Hi," she said, looking up at him. "What?"

"You're normally a little...bouncier?" Anakin offered.

[thatwaslucky]

Rey looked amused. "Am I not allowed to study?"

[sith_happened]

"Oh, you are," Anakin said. "You just normally don't this time on Fridays. What are you studying?"

[thatwaslucky]

"The texts I took from Ahch-To," she said, closing the book with her hand keeping her place so that he could see the extremely worn cover. "I'm taking a couple of them back for translation help so I want to figure out which parts I want to focus on first."

"Handing them off to Threepio?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"And Beaumont, possibly," she said. "We have a historian there, so he might be able to help some with context."

[sith_happened]

"That would be good," Anakin said. "These were before me."

[thatwaslucky]

"Some of them were before Yoda," Rey said. "Luke apparently spent a lot of time hunting these down."

"And then reading them?"

Maybe?

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm not sure. It might depend when he found them relative to when the temple burned," Rey shrugged. "There are some notes in cyphers in the margins that look fairly new. He might have added some things."

"He didn't happen to leave the code to the cypher?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"No. But again, depending on when he did this- if it was him- he might have wanted to write it down but not want the information to actually be read," Rey said. "Or there was a code somewhere and I didn't know to take it."

"Hopefully your translators will be able to assist," Anakin said. "Can you make anything of even a portion?"

Rey patted the ground next to her because it was easier to show him the pages.

"Yes. Threepio could make out some of it. That was huge. Other things I had to figure out on my own and I worked out something of an alphabet so that I could translate, but that's slow. I have a translator app now," she said, picking up the datapad for a moment, "but some of the languages have been dead for millennia, apparently."

"Well, you've given Threepio a project," Anakin said. "He probably loves that."

[thatwaslucky]

"He does. I felt bad once he'd gotten through all he could, but hopefully he'll be able to work with the historian to do more," she said.

She really did want to make Threepio feel appreciated.

Anakin's smile turned pleased. He had a soft spot for Threepio and all of his neuroses.

"Well, if anyone can figure out ancient, long-dead languages, it's a protocol droid," he said.

And the historian, but Anakin didn't care about that part as much.

"It'll be a group project," she smiled. "I really do love this stuff."

Anakin smiled back. "I can tell."

[thatwaslucky]

"Everything I learned on Jakku I had to figure out myself," Rey explained. "It's actually nice to be able to work it out and apply things. That's how I fixed the lightsaber."

[sith_happened]

Anakin sucked in air between his teeth. "That could've gone really badly."

[thatwaslucky]

"I just had to heal the crystal. And I got to practice first," she said. "I wasn't worried."

[sith_happened]

"Good," Anakin said. "I'll freak out for you."
