Turtle & Canary; Wednesday [10/20].
It was days like this where Shunsui really missed having Summer-chan around, even if only because she worked as a very good buffer between himself and Apu-san when something like this happened.
Because, you see, Apu-san had a problem...again...with Astrid-chan, and there was no one for him to go to about it except Shunsui at this point. And here Shunsui was getting nice and settled for a post-bare-minimum-of-managerial-work nap after getting in when Apu-san stomped up to the counter and promptly deposited several bags onto it in an angry fashion, and, at first, Shunsui didn't even see what was wrong. It was just candy corn, it was spooky season, wasn't candy corn just par for the course? It looked like Astrid-chan had ordered more than enough, what exactly was the problem here?
And that was when Apu-san told him to look at the bags a little closer, and, in doing so, Shunsui began to see what he meant.
"Ah," he said, frowning thoughtfully at the bag as he considered it. "Well, surely, it can't be all that bad..."
At which point, he opened one of them, tipped a few of the little treats into his hand, and popped them into his mouth.
It...really was that bad.
In fact, Shunsui discovered, a moment later, that he may have found something that not even sake could make better.
"Well," he decided, "you know what this calls for."
No, Apu, not firing Astrid. This called for...a sign.

No, he was not going to just fully stock up. That would imply he was sticking around and he still fully intended on getting to the Bahamas sooner rather than later. No, he was just stopping in for a few things to hold him over until he could get the damn motor on his boat working again and get on his way.
So there he was, walking into T&C after giving the sign out front a double take. Shaking his head slightly, Billy walked in, glancing around as he did to see who was in there that day.

"Green beans?" he marveled outloud, almost offended that such a thing would exist, and then just decided the whole thing was a wash and that his bottle of sake, which was now being poured into one of his larger cups, was simply not big enough to deal with anything in that bag.
He'd like to imagine the green one would be the worst of it, but he was starting to have doubts.
It was at that point, cup poured, jug set very close at hand at the counter, that Shunsui realized someone had wandered into the shop, and, seeing that it was not who he usually expected to wander into the shop on any given Wednesday, lifted his sake up and tilted his hat in greeting.
"Ohayō ♥," he sang out, in a sort of rote attempt to be the cheerful proprietor. "Good morning ♥~! Let us know if we can help ♥~!"
Maybe the wayward customer enjoyed horrible candy?
Ohhhh, but the things Summer-chan could have done with these candy corns in her skillful, terrible hands....

handwaveyvisit to the shop since finding himself stranded on the island. The person sitting behind the counter this day was not someone he had seen at the shop before. And he was not totally prepared for the sight that greeted him either.Billy eyed him curiously, with maybe even a eyebrow lifting slightly for good measure. Maybe it would be easier to fit in around here, with folks like this on the island. He returned the nod slightly.
"Just here for a few supplies..." Billy started and then realized he couldn't just slink off to whatever aisle he needed he head to. "Ummm, you do sell cigarettes here right?"
no subject
"Well," he amended, over his cup, "almost everything ♥. But cigarettes, certainly, yes ♥."
Then, after a sip, as if remembering his manners, he asked, "Care for some sake ♥? We sell that, as well, but this one..." He set his cup down so he could pick up a fresh one, "is on the house ♥."

There was a reason why Billy had stayed in Mexico for so long. Well, several really, but the weather was definitely one of them. He wasn't sure he would be able to handle an actual cold winter after all these years.
no subject
It worked out well, because he could swear even just that faint nibble of green bean candy corn was lingering on the edge of his first cup, anyway, and he gave a thoughtful little hum as he sipped.
"It'll likely be here before we know it ♥," he, who was never much bothered by the cold himself, mused, "but you never can tell, with the weather around here. As fas as we know, we'll merely have a winter of glitter without a hint of snow ♥."
no subject
"Anyways, how bad are the winters usually around here?" Billy was suddenly getting a bit worried about how he, and his boat, were going to weather a bad winter. The boat was definitely not winterized and neither was he considering he had not a lick of winter clothes or supplies on hand.
no subject
"Well," Shunsui offered helpfully, "I think that rather has a lot to do with how the island might be feeling about it this year ♥. Maybe, if we're good to her now, she'll be rather forgiving once that cold weather makes its blustering, icy appearance ♥."
no subject
Cut him some slack, Billy he said to himself. Dude's been hitting the sake for a while obviously. Just smile and nod. Humor him.
"Well hopefully it is a mild one if I haven't gotten things fixed by then. Not fond of the cold."
no subject
The comments, still, seemed to please Shunsui, with his ever-present amused smile, gone a little more crooked with the concept of perhaps having to seduce, or at least appease the island just to keep the weather a bit more managable.
"Then lucky you ♥," he offered. "Come winter, we do offer an exceptional variety of nice, warm coats. Of course, I'm much more partial to the warmth of human company in those situations, but to each their own, I suppose ♥."
no subject
Billy smirked slightly. "Actually got enough interest on a small island like this huh? Will have to keep that in mind."
no subject
But, with that said, while he sipped, he seemed to consider Billy a little more closely now.
"You really are new, aren't you?" he asked. "Either that, or you keep yourself quietly tucked away..."

"Quite possible, yes," he said, though not without a thoughtful pause. "For some. I have heard that there are those who find themselves here without the ability to leave, but the majority of the student body and faculty at the school did just spend an entire week visiting a different city on the mainland, so to suggest that it would be impossible to leave would be a bit misguided, unless one were to suggest that we've all been other some incredibly potent shared hallucination ♥."
Which, to be fair, was something that had happened at least a few times where Shunsui was from.
"If you are stuck, however," he offered, "there are far worse places to be stuck, without a doubt. Far better places, too, I'm sure," he added, with a chuckle, "but I certainly wouldn't complain too much about it ♥."
Mostly because, if he was stuck here, that was an excellent excuse to get out of working!
no subject
"Know anyone who works on boats or who can help fix one? I've been working nearly every day since I got here to get my boat fixed up so I can get out here. Every time I think I have it, something else breaks or goes wrong." Billy sighed and shook his head. "Sure seems like something is determined to keep me here."
Though, if he was going to be honest, there were worst places to be stuck. At least there didn't seem to be any monsters, mutants, or zombies on the island so that was a definite improvement over Raccoon City... though the small town feel was going to take some getting used to.

He threw in a wink, and, in an effort to be a little more helpful beyond perhaps giving the poor guy a complex about a debateably sentient island having a vaguely possessive crush on a person, he considered the real question underneath it all.
"We do have a few boat people on the island," he offered, "that make good use of the port. I consider one of them a good enough friend to know that she likely wouldn't appreciate me throwing her name around to strangers, but her snogon by the name of Duke has always come across as a helpful type to me. If you haven't had the chance to talk to him, I might recommend starting there. And if all else fails, I don't believe she knows much about boats specifically, but Movie Class-chan.....err." He stopped himself, grinned crookedly, and ducked his head as if in apology, either to Billy himself or the lady in question. "I'm sorry, Miss Blackstone is our local blacksmith, and I do know that there isn't a fix-it challenge that she won't shy away from, if you're willing to roll the dice on whether or not she might actually be able to help things or merely made it worse and-to more unnecessarily convoluted ♥."
no subject
Though that was a bit of an unfair comparison if he was honest because most places were a lot different than Cancun.
no subject
He passed a look over to Billy.
"You have been told about the whole interdimensional nexus business," he said, with the tone of someone who would be very disappointed in everyone else on the island if it had trickled down to him being the one to explain this to him, "haven't you?"
no subject
"I... Ummm.... I know this island supposedly likes to pull people in from different places and... times apparently. I mean I started off the coast of Mexico then woke up floating off shore in the cove here... And its evidently like 2021 or something when it was 1999 last I remember."
Billy glanced at Shunsui and shook his head, cuz this was getting a bit crazy, even for him. "But interdimensional? Like other worlds? That's not really a thing is it?"
no subject
It was practically Introduction to Fandom 101!
The smile on Shunsui's face was nothing but sympathy and apologetics, like someone might give to a small child asking the most obvious of questions.
"We stock blue milk from another galaxy in our fridges because our manager felt there were enough people from that galaxy in and out of this place that there would be a demand," he said. "It is very much a thing. I myself stand before you in a makeshift body because I have no actual corporeal form in this world, because I am, technically speaking," he made a gesture in the air, "dead ♥."
To put it lightly.
And now he was quite prepared for the poor fellow to firmly conclude that the guy at the general store should clearly put down the sake bottles, but what else would be new?
no subject
"Oh... well, that is ummmm, new" Billy finally managed, wondering if his brain was visibly smoking as he still tried to wrap his brain around how even some of what this guy was telling him was really true. "You're not just trolling the new guy are you?" he asked, knowing there really was no reason for him too, unless that also was a thing on this island.
no subject
Here, Shunsui lifted his sake jug and gave it a little, sloshing shake before going to top off his cup.
"There's always someone around to help ♥."
