Even though he'd been back for a few days now, Shunsui hadn't bothered to check into the store yet, since he knew he'd be sweeping his way in on Wednesday anyway, so, needless to say, he was quite pleased to arrive and find that the whole thing was still standing despite his absense.

"And so you see, Apu-san ♥," he informed his most dedicated employee with amused confidence. "Proof in the pudding that Astrid-chan is a fine and competent manager after all and perhaps you should stop being so terribly hard on the poor girl, mmmm ♥?"

Apu was not at all impressed with Shunsui's incredibly low bar on this particular standard, especially since he'd been with this place long enough to make a case that sometimes, even no manager at all was better than managers like some who shall remain nameless.

Present company included.

And no, Shunsui, he would not elaborate on why he was considering maybe taking a break from all the daily national holiday stuff for a little while...

It had been a while, hadn't it? But here was Octavia again, finally work willing. With something on her mind.

"Hi there."

Oh, well, you know. Pesky things like lives and duties and the unexpected push of even the smallest breeze swaying things slightly unaligned, before perhaps settling back again, at least for a little while...

"Konnichiwa, Octavia-chan ♥," said Shunsui with a smile of gratitude for particular moments of things set into place, so much so that he'd already had a jug removed from beneath the counter in his hand. "Genki desu ka~ ♥?"

"Tired, but okay," Octavia replied, her wryly amused tone making it obvious she was just taking a wild stab at guessing what that question meant. "You?"

Wild stabs in the dark, it would seem, made for an effective strategy at times, causing Shunsui to look absolutely delighted with her response, although, to be fair, he very much would have looked that exact same way even if her answer was so far off the mark, it might as well have been in another plane of existence. His chuckle was light and fond and deep, and his own retort entirely to be expected.

"Significantly better than I was but a few mere moments ago, Octavia-chan," he said, "and doubtless about to continue improving exponentially ♥." Said, of course, without missing a single drop while pouring from the jug into the two cups perfectly balanced in his hand, so that he could then offer them to her. "Mizu ♥?"

"Yes, please," Octavia said, already reaching out for one of the cups with her usual care. "Parched."

No, she wasn't. She'd just missed this.

"Tsk, tsk ♥," Shunsui chided lightly, though his soft smile was in clear approval of the delibrate attention to paid other concerns regarding the proper handling of cups. "It's important for one to say hydrated, Octavia-chan. Why else," the lopsidedness to his smirk now did nothing for such an attempt at an innocent expresion, "do you think I'm always drinking ♥?"

"Not sure that works that way," Octavia rasped, as she slowly pulled her hand back, then lifted the little cup. "But I'll drink to that."

"Here, here ♥!" Shunsui signaled his agreement and approval of such a toast with a duck of his head, a lift of his own cup, before taking to the task of downing it all in one fell swoop to immediately fill his cup again, this one to be more slowly sipped and savored, clearly now quite refreshed and ready to go.

"Now, Octavia-chan ♥," he said, "what can we help you with today ♥?"

"Just regular groceries," Octavia replied, glancing out across the store --

But maybe there was something a little off about it. In the shift of her eyebrows, the uncertain curve of her lips.

And Shunsui vaguely followed the movement of her glance, cutting his own a little short to return his attention to her and note those oh-so-little things with a shift of her own eyebrow, slightly lifted.

"This is a good place for those ♥," he noted lightly. "What've got on the grocery list this week ♥?"

"The usual," Octavia replied, her gaze flicking back to his face, then sliding away again when she found him watching. "Fruit. That kind of thing."

Ah, but did those eyes flicker away before or after Shunsui's grin grew slightly more in noticing her noticing him noticing her?

"Of course ♥," he said, nodding, unsurprised. "We do have some rather lovely citrus coming into season at the moment...Would you like me to show you ♥?"

After, obviously.

"Sure," Octavia said, shrugging, fighting the unfamiliar urge to stuff her hands into her jacket pockets. "Maybe there's something I haven't tried yet."

"I certainly hope so, Octavia-chan ♥," said Shunsui, taking a moment to refill his cup again, then tilting the jug questioningly her way to see if she would like a top-off before their arduous journey to the produce section. "It can be quite an unexpected treat, to try a new thing, neh ♥?"
