MHA, Landlord's apartment and around the building, Wednesday

So, Faye had mentioned the locks weren't the best they could be. And Jon took this weird job that had been dropped in his lap seriously! So the rest of you had Faye's paranoia to thank for the fact that Jon was having all the locks replaced with better ones.

He'd make sure to get everybody their new keys, though, no need to worry. They'd be given to anybody currently in, and put in the mailbox of anybody who was out when they stopped by.

Hopefully you checked your mail.

When not doing that, Jon would be in his apartment if you needed anything.

[Open for all your Jon and/or MHA needs! Feel free to mod any lock weirdness if that's your thing! ETA: Apologies! I didn't realize this might mess with folks. If you prefer not to have your lock changed, just mod that Jon asked via mail or call or whatever and you said no, and your locks will not be changed.]

Dwight knew it was likely to be a full day's project, what with having to change out nearly a dozen locks and what not. But he also knew not everyone was the early rising morning birds he and Jon tended to be so he had waited till later in the day to head over and start work.

He set the box he had been carrying down in the hallway, along with his tool belt and tools and knocked on Jon's door.

"Coffee would be nice, thanks," Dwight said as he walked in. "Got everything delivered a few days ago, so should be good to go here. Hopefully this will be an easy process and I can get out of your hair sooner rather than later."

"Ah, that's good. Any preference on where I start?" Dwight asked as he started undoing the packaging for the first set of locks.

"Ah I meant any particular locks need more attention or work. I'll just start here and work my way down the hall" Dwight said as he got his tools and everything together. "Oh and black is fine for the coffee, thanks."

There were unusual noises coming from the hallways. Radio had been dealt with so it wasn't impatient squirrels so Stark was very cautiously opening his door to peer outside.

"What are you doing?"

"Faye put in a new one," Stark agreed, lips twitching as he tried not to smile. "No one's broken in since."

Squirrels sneaking in didn't count as breaking in.

"Two, if you count when she put on the new lock," Stark said after thinking about it for a moment. "They weren't a problem. Either time."

The opposite of a problem, really. That first break in had been wonderful after he'd recovered from his initial fright.

"She'd been saying she'd replace the lock since the first time..." Stark paused, thought about it, then nodded. "Since June. And I think she was going to take care of hers as well. I offered to help."

"I'm sure she will, if she wants it," Stark told him. "She's very good at letting people know what she wants. And what she doesn't want."

Goose had been for a run, several times around the island to try and shake off his excess restless energy and hopefully he’d finally fall asleep later but no such luck.

He headed back to his apartment before his class and spotted Jon, “did something happen to the apartment?”

Someone hadn’t checked his mail, actually someone didn’t realise he had a mailbox.

“Oh,” Goose blinked and then there was a pause and then, “mail?” because that was clearly the point to focus on here.

He was also rather sleep deprived at this point, he was blaming it on that.

Goose’s blank expression told Jon that no he hadn’t checked the mail and that the mailbox in the lobby was news to him, “I didn’t realise I …uh actually had a mailbox,” he admitted a bit sheepishly. There was a reason that Commander Walsh took care of most of Goose's living expenses because Goose didn't understand how most normal everyday things actually worked.

“Actually I think that’s probably something I should know,” Goose realised, “uh …that would be good then if you could show me please,”

“Oh,” Goose blinked as he got his keys out, “is that what that was for?” he found the key and opened it and two months worth of mostly junk mail but there were some physical copies of bills fell out.

Including the letter informing Goose that his locks were going to be changed. “Oh here it is,” Goose said rather sheepishly.

"Oh, I don't mind if the locks are changed," Goose told him, as he read the several days old notice, "it definitely makes more sense now, well at least there wasn't any furniture eaten this time?" he remarked.
