Blackstone Foundry and Forge; Thursday [12/02].
Inspired by her conversation at the bar with Seivarden early in the week, Amaya had been working on a few more things for the shop, trying to get a good head-start on some of the more...controversial things that usually came along with December. She was trying to remember what else there was, besides the accursed mistletoe, to worry about, and she knew she had plenty of things that would help with inflatables should they attack again, snowmen she'd been prepared for for years, roving string lights were a little trickier, but she figured a good set of armored boots for crushing would work great. So she had lots of idea and suggestions and things to make available, which included, of course, a new sandwich board to be set outside the door to draw people into the shop:
Defend Yourself Against December!
With Blackstone Foundry & Forge!
Flamethrowers! Materia-enchanced Weapons! Big Sticks with Pointy Things!
Everything you'll need to keep you and yours safe
this Holiday Season!
Inquire inside TODAY!
After giving it a moment to read over it again and nod with satisfied pride at the results, Amaya headed back into the shop to get back to work on a few things that may or may not wind up as Christmas gifts to certain people in a few weeks down the lines now. A few bears wandered in from the street, which was an intriguing prospect until she realized they were just there to offer up some of those sodas, which she gladly took with thanks, because it was hot work in front of the forge, and those drinks were mighty refreshing. The bears didn't stick around for too long, though, because it could get mighty warm in the workshop with said forge, much too warm for polar bears and all that fur, but at least one of them stuck around long enough to hear her pitch on armor for bears and the right to bear arms (*da-da-ching*) before politely declining and making its exit.

That, and also learning the critical skill of walking on a leash properly. So, there was Dwight walking up to the forge, calling out to Amaya as he approached.
"That is quite the interesting sign you got there Amaya..." he said with a chuckle as he stopped outside, making sure the excited pup didn't get into anything he shouldn't. "How have things been?"
no subject
And they usually did, which was why she was still here and in business!
"And who's that?" she nodded toward the little pup, hands and hammer on her hips. "You find yourself a new friend, there, Dwight, or is an old friend having quite a bit different of a day than they were expecting?"
Ah, yes, the ol' Fandom 'Is-this-a-pet-or-a-transformed-person?' classic!

"This is my new pup. Amaya, meet Snoopy" he said as he knelt down to keep the excited pup corralled a little easier.
no subject
"Unless..." She looked up at Dwight with a grin. "Don't suppose you'd be interested in some armor for him while you're here, would you?"
A bit of a downgrade from BEAR armor, but she'd take it!
"Maybe he'll be like Rosa's pup, too, and never even manage to grow out of it."
no subject
"We'll have to see about the armor" Dwight said with with a smirk. "I am intrigued to see what you would come up with." (It would have spikes, Dwight. Obviously. What else would you even need to know?)
no subject
It would be adorable, and now she was wondering if she could sell Rosa on a set for Anna, too.
"So, when'd this happen?"

Why he'd bother dragging the pup along the whole time was a little up there, but he was new, probably not good to leave him alone too much. It's not like pups were lobsters.
So enjoy just a wee bit of extra attention there, Snoopy, distracted though it may be.
"And where to next?" she asked. "On the grand tour of introduction to the island?"
no subject
He gave a slight chuckle as the pup chased a dust ball on the floor, kicking up a small cloud of soot as he did. After a few minutes he looked more grey than white because of it.
"Though, I think once we get back home, it's time for his first bath!"

“Hey,” she called. “Mama needs some sharp objects.”
no subject
"Well, then," she stated, one more swing of her hammer down on the axe she was working on before she looked up and futiley tried to swiped her hair back over her shoulder, "Mama's in luck, because we've got plenty!
"What kind of sharp are we talking? Big sharp? Little sharp? Twirly sharp or spinny sharp? Pokey, stabby, slicing, dicing? Hacking, whacking, materia-stacking? We've got it all, sister, and if we don't? Give me a week or two, we'll see what we can do!"
no subject
Seventy-five percent axe appreciation. Twenty-five percent arms. She was a multi-tasker.
“I like the idea of axes,” she continued, “But I’m happy to talk options first. See, my best friend was attacked by turkeys the other day, and that got me thinking: this place is full of bullshit. Who knows when I’m gonna have to pry an angry flying tentacle monster off of him or something?”
no subject
She then took a moment to consider Margo, consider the weapons she knew she had in stock, and consider the turkeys.
"Now an axe is a fine choice," she mused. "Easily my most popular weapon these days, and I've got a wide variety of shapes and sizes for pretty much any need. This one here," her thumb hitched toward the project put on pause, "a gift for a friend who actually probably has more than I even have in the shop who'll insist every woman should have an axe, and I tend to agree with her, and not just because it's my bread and butter and it's generally a good idea not to disagree with her if if can be helped.
"Now, personally," she continued, but, hey, she said she'd be happy to talk options!, "I think a sword offers a bit more versatility, but it does take a bit more finesse to use that versatility effectively. Sounds like there's a good chance someone else might be mixed up in there, so probably best to avoid your sturdy blugeoners, like a mace or a flail. Polearms might be good if you plan to keep a distance and not get your hands too dirty, but if you don't mind really getting in there deep, a good knife or dagger can't be beat. Range-wise, I'd definitely go crossbow over standard, the latter's a bit too fussy in a pinch, but you could say the same about both, so I think a throwing star's your best bet there, and therr's no lack of those around here, I can tell you that much. But, ultimately, the most important thing about a weapon is going for what not only suits your needs, but also suits yourself, and it also never hurts to have a range of options. Of course, I'm the one selling you those options, so take that as you will."

She’d need another handful of moments to think about the other options, but at least she’d eliminated one.

She crossed her arms. “So what’s the skull-breaking ratio difference between axes and mace. . . s?”
no subject
Axe could have spikes, too, of course, if you were Amaya, but the spike potential was nothing to just brush aside, either!
no subject
Just checking.
no subject
She was definitely designing that axe now, whether Margo was taking it or not.
An axe-mace hybrid, perhaps? An axace? a maxe?
no subject
She had never wielded a melee weapon before, but she was happy to dive right in on the deep end if it helped with the smashy-smashy potential.

"We can get you a nice hatchet to get you by in the meantime," she offered, "whicle I whip up some good composite sketches and see what kind of design might work best for you. And assuming I don't get too much of a rush on holiday gifts, I can probably have something custom ready in about two weeks, let's say?"

totally moddableweapons wall, if you like, see if anything jumps out at you, you can have it on loan until we get the real star of the show finished up, or, heck, why not both? Get yourself a nice collection going."no subject
She was already on her way to the weapons wall, because while Amaya’s guns were admirable, sharp objects were even better. “So this is a classic mace, huh,” she said, plucking a darkish-brown one off the wall.
