Groovy Tunes; Thursday [12/09].
So, Troy's boss was apparently out for an unknown amount of time, but, instead of putting him in charge...he, who had worked for her for...a while now! And therefor should have....some sort of seniority!....Tisarwat got Summer to do it. Summer, who didn't even work here! And, yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, so maybe Summer did work a million jobs and apparently had 'tempoarary manager' on her resume for, like, probably a dozen different places, but still! The whole thing was totally bogus.
Until someone came in complaining about a purchase and demanding some sort of refund and compensation for emotional distress, in which case, Troy was very suddenly fine with not having been given the responsibility and was more than happy to direct the irate consumer to the lady in charge while he went back to just listening to music and flipping through some music magazines.
Groovy Tunes is open!

Groovy Tunes is open!

Hello to you too, Rosa. Sorry Troy, she was excited.
"Tell me you sell cassettes. You would make my entire day."
Forget vinyl. Cassettes were the retro charm object of Rosa's dreams right now.
no subject
He...was pretty sure he didn't even know who this even was?
"But, yeah, we've got cassettes. Over there, past the CDs, before you hit the vinyl.
AKA The Wasteland of Obsolete Media.
"You looking for anything in particular?"
Because they didn't get a lot of people in here. Troy felt a small spark of excitement, now, too.

She started in the direction he'd indicated, but slowly, turning in circles as she went, just absorbing the vibe.
"Oh my god, this place is amazing. You're so lucky to work here!"
no subject
"Actually, no," he realized, "you're right. It is pretty amazing. I mean, I pretty much just listen to music and play with instruments all day. Really, the worst part of any of it is having to deal with the headphone wires monster, and we haven't seen him around ever since I turned into him on Halloween."

Rosa paused in her survey of the stare and blinked at him.
"People in this town say the weirdest shit." She shook her head. "And I thought Roswell was strange."
no subject
"Wait," he said. "You must be new here, because, yeah. No. This place....is legit straight-up bonkers."
no subject
Rosa huffed. "Yeah. So is Roswell."
But not this bonkers.
"Guess that's why this place kinda feels homey to me, though." She looked around the store again, a little longingly. "Hey, I don't suppose you guys are hiring? Part time? Really part time. I'm supposed to be in school."
no subject
He totally had seniority over Summer; what better way to prove it than by hiring someone on? He was pretty sure Tisarwat would approve.
"Honestly?" he said. "We pretty much need all the help we can get. It's pretty much just me, Tisarwat, and the annoying vinyl hipster right now, and that guy? Is the worst."
Then, he figured he'd seal the deal on his supposed sense of authority by adding, "When can you start?"

Not even an interview? Rosa raised her eyebrows with a smile. "Next week?" she offered. "I only just got keys to my new place yesterday. That should give me time to settle in a little."
no subject
"Next week, it is, then!" he said, in an official sort of tone, because that would clearly make it official enough. "Good to have you aboard--"
Okay, maybe he just realized something that might be kind of important to ask.
"Err, what was your name, actually?"
He supposed he could just call her Cassette Hipster. And then maybe she and Vinyl Hipster could have a turf war! He supposed he could be the neutral party in favor of CDs, or something, but he would probably side with Cassette Hipster because she was 1) not annoying (so far) and 2) much cuter.

Butt Soup had gone a little bit out of fashion since Eleanor left, really...
"Nice to meet you, though, Rosa. Welcome to the Groovy Tunes crew."
He said it, so it was official now! It wasn't like Tisarwat was around to negate him on that!

She was totally going to doodle one of those later.

Granted, this music was mostly a few bits of sampling and a lot of sound effect noises, but he thought it was pretty good!
"You might be onto something there."
no subject
"You totally should." Rosa was going to regret encouraging this, wasn't she. "Maybe I'll do cover art for your first album."
no subject

Rosa shrugged. "I met you, like, five minutes ago. I'm not going to complain because you have a . . . partner in crime to do your art for you."

"I might need to meet this girl. Does she do murals? I've been admiring the ones down by those warehouse-y places near the highway."
Highway, causeway, same diff.
no subject
A pause.
"My room's a blanket fort."
Yes, he felt this was relavent information, but even he could hear the almost non-sequitor of it.
"Because my roommate's a girl," he added, as if that was the one missing peice in his particular train of thought.
no subject
". . . Okay." Rosa was starting to realize that this guy was maybe really young. "I mean, if that's what you like, why not? My new landlord said I could paint there. But I'll probably try to do stuff around town, too."
Fandom was just going to end up graffittied top to bottom at this rate.

(It was actually nineteen
lol math, but he thought it was seventeen, because his mom had told him everyone was ten for two years, 'because fifth grade is really hard.')."You know," Troy ventured, taking a moment to look around at the space, "this place could probably use something new in that respect, too. Maybe," he looked at Rosa hopefully, like he'd just found the perfect little nugget to sell her on, even though she was pretty much already confirmed for the position, "that could be your first job!"
Would Tisarwat mind, if he just hired some rando pretty much off the street to paint the place up?
He liked to think she'd like it, actually, and if she didn't? Oh, well! Shouldn't have gone to space and left him in charge, then!
(Even if she'd totally actually left Summer in charge, but shhh).
no subject
"Yeah?" Rosa gave him a smile (from her very lofty height of 21-because-she-was-19-and-also-dead-for-ten-years). "I could do that. Get a good mix going and just . . . go crazy."
She was already getting ideas, looking around the place.
no subject
It could totally happen.
"That sounds great! I'm really looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the place, Rosa!"
And, boy, he sure hoped she didn't suck at art!
