Even if Annie had spent the first half of the week being run off her ass in New York (sorry, "being celebrated at a benefit"), it didn't mean she could exactly take a break from things when she was back in Fandom.

Apparently the island had other ideas, though. She'd have to think of an excuse as to why she wasn't picking up, since even as much slack as she could get, "my phone was only showing a burning log" seemed kind of...bad, as far as reasons to not answer an email or a text.

Oh well. Enforced break from Vought it was.

"Oh, that's a really good idea," Annie said, nodding eagerly. "Like, for this reason but also because like...I mean, I definitely didn't see everything that happened. It'd be like having a party recap. As it is I'm only kind of aware of who did what this time. Summer and I still aren't sure whether the drone got anyone -- but someone put filthy ornaments on it at some point."

That one wasn't much of a mystery. She was pretty sure it had been Eliot.

"I mean, don't most arts and crafts turn into dicks in the end?" he joked. "We should have expected that."

"There was a dick and also a vagina," Annie whispered, looking scandalized. "And they were both really accurate!"

(It had been a vulva. Learn your own anatomy, woman.)

"But yeah. I kinda wish they'd drawn dicks on Five's board, though," she added, a touch wistful.

Diego snorted. "I didn't realize we had artists among us."

"You could have drawn the dick on his board and no one would have suspected it was you."

Annie paused, clearly having not considered this.

"...do you think I still could?" she wondered. "I told people not to mess with the board while cleaning up, so it wouldn't be surprising if things were still there from the party. And I won't be able to next year, because of the cameras!"

The cameras were happening officially, now.

"I haven't seen him around since the party," he said with a shrug. "You could sneak one on there and blame it on the shirt thief."

Was it stealing if your girlfriend had offered the shirt in the first place?

Well, last year she'd just offered. This year it had been a request.

(Next year, Annie was half-tempted to send Cade home in one of Diego's past ugly sweaters, actually.)

"I weirdly have not drawn a lot of dicks on things," she admitted. "I might need your help."

Diego had grown up with four brothers. She was sure he could offer pointers.

"Seriously?" he asked. "Not on a iced over window or anything?"

"No!" Annie's protest was mostly a scoff, and she waved a hand at him lightly. "Of course I haven't. I always drew stars on, like, iced over windows or dirty cars or whatever."

She still drew stars when those occasions arose, actually. No shocks there.

"We used to draw dicks on Luther all the time." Of course they did. "Ben was the best at it."

"Well, Luther's basically asking for it," Annie had to admit, even if she liked Luther a lot. (More than his siblings did sometimes, seemingly?) "Between the attitude and how he's, like, the biggest dick-drawing canvas of all of you."

You could fit so many dicks on a guy that size.

"And once again, Ben sounds like he might have had the best sense of humor of all of you." God, if she ever actually met Ben, they'd have so much to talk about. Peeps. Dicks. Maturity.

"He did," Diego confirmed with a nod. "Enough of a sense of humor to bother Klaus in the afterlife, even."

"I mean, I've spent all this time feeling bad for Ben because he has to like, bear witness to Klaus'...Klaus-ness," Annie mused. "But like imagine having your brother hanging out, offering commentary on everything you do. Your funniest brother, even."

At least, if she had been the ghost in this situation, she wouldn't have stayed quiet.

"I'm sure he drove Klaus nuts," Diego said fondly. "But I'm sure the reverse is true too. Klaus is...a lot."

"You're all kind of a lot," Annie told him with a touch of fondness, herself. "But Klaus might be, like, the most, yeah. At least Ben probably isn't bored?"

Still holding out hope that they were together, wherever in time Five had thrown them.

"I hope not. I mean, apparently Klaus is sober now if that makes a difference." Or was, until he got lost in space and time. "Haven't seen that since we were preteens."

"It must have been so much to deal with," Annie replied sympathetically. "That's amazing, if he's staying sober. I hear it's pretty hard unless you've got a lot of support."

Or so she had been told, at least. She had her own in-and-out-of-rehab mess back home who she tried to keep tabs on from a distance.

"Does it affect his abilities?" she asked, trying to remember if she'd heard something about that. Maybe that was what had helped him see their dad? It had all happened so fast at the end of summer, there.

He nodded. "Yeah, being high all the time dulled his powers. When he got sober that's when he could manifest Ben and see Dad."

Diego personally didn't understand why Klaus would want to dull his powers, but he hadn't been the one surrounded by dead people his entire life.

Annie could see it. Or at least, she could see the slippery slope that would lead from 'I need to get some damn sleep and these ghosts won't shut up' to Klaus being Klaus.

"Then maybe he's staying sober, wherever they are," Annie decided optimistically. "Who knows what other stuff he can do without being high. I figured that was just because of....you know. The togetherness."

AKA her favorite thing ever.

Diego sighed dramatically. Yeah, he knew she loved to bring it up. "It's still not as cute as you think it is."

"Pretty sure it's exactly as cute as I think it is," Annie assured him, resting her chin in her hands and smiling.

She was not sure of that, but she was sure that she loved teasing him about this.

"Maybe you and Five should just, like, start holding hands a lot. See what happens."

"One of us will probably end up stabbed." Which one was up in the air.

"And then you can practice first aid on each other!"
