Fix & Clean- Friday Afternoon

So. There was mistletoe. That much had been made perfectly clear to Dwight already. So he was naturally going to the sensible and logical and perfectly non-panicked thing of hiding out in the shop for the rest of the day.

Nope, perfectly normal plans here. Working on some projects and being productive. He had of course already checked all around the ceiling of the shop and not seen any mistletoe anywhere. So he was probably safe. He had already fallen victim to the mistletoe once. It would probably leave him alone. Maybe. Right?

Even with Rosa not there, the mistletoe apparently knew better than to come into the apartment, and if there had been any visible in the ten feet to Dwight's...well, Miguel hadn't had enough coffee yet.

"Morning, Dwight." Cooooffffeeeeee.

Dwight turned around as he heard someone enter the shop.

"Oh hey, Miguel. Morning," he said somewhat distractedly, giving another quick scan to the corners of the shop. "How's it going?"

Pulling his attention back, he nodded towards the coffee pot. "Coffee is just about ready. Sorry. Running a little late this morning. Got.... tied up for a bit this morning (yes yes the puns were rubbing off on him).

"It's barely late enough to be up; how did you get busy already?" He poured himself some coffee and started in on it.

"Was up early...er, than usual" Dwight said simply. "Got held up over at the forge for a bit." understatement there much Dwight ?

"More metal stuff?" Miguel asked. "How's Amaya doing?"

[alwaysonguard]

"Oh she's fine....probably elbows deep into her next project, which probably entails already planning ahead for next years mistletoe invasion..."

"Next year's?" Miguel frowned, then laughed. "Shock, is that today? And if so, am I allowed to tease you?"

[alwaysonguard]

"Yes, yes that is today" Dwight said giving Miguel a playful glare. "As Amaya and I...." he paused for a second. He was about to say 'unfortunately' but that really wasn't the case, at least as far as he was concerned, if he was honest "found out this morning."

[what_the_shock]

Miguel laughed. "Right. I'm familiar. So is teasing allowed or not?"

[alwaysonguard]

"Can't really stop ya can I?" Dwight said then waved a hand at Miguel with a laugh of his own. "Go ahead. I won't deny you that joy."

"You absolutely can," Miguel said, shrugging. "Teasing's nasty if you're not okay with it."

"You're fine man, don't worry about it" Dwight said as he went and filled his cup again. "I survived a couple days on the road in a truck and in a hotel room with ya. I think I will survive." He gave Miguel a slight grin and a nod. "Appreciate the concern though."

Miguel shrugged and drank his coffee. "So what's she up to? Flamethrowers? Something with blades everywhere?"

"Flamethrowers, material enhanced weapons, lots of blades... all to no avail" Dwight said with a laugh. "Bested by mistletoe, the both of us!"

"...How does a plant best a flamethrower?" Miguel asked.

[alwaysonguard]

"Evidently by being smart enough to sabotage it before had" Dwight said with a dubious nod.

[what_the_shock]

"Okay, that's just wrong," Miguel said. "How is it that smart? I know humans who couldn't manage that!" (And one sentient being who'd probably set himself on fire trying, but Beaker was an outlier.)

"Well I can confirm it is that smart and *cough* quite persuasive too."
Was there a touch of red tinging his cheeks remembers what happened just a few short hours ago. Maybe. He was neither going to confirm nor deny it and hope Miguel didn't notice....

Miguel noticed, but just snorted. "Yeah, it's got that reputation. I tend to just slice it open."

[alwaysonguard]

"Well, it was a little too quick for us it seems. Guess we need to invest in talons for next year" Dwight said with a sigh. "I'm Rosa can spot the stuff a mile away and just shoots it into submission, am I right?" he asked with a smirk.

"Nah, she glares at it and it doesn't dare get close," Miguel said.

Huh. Come to think of it, he had never seen it when she was around.

"Smart mistletoe. Guess it really is sentient AND intelligent" he said with a laugh.

[what_the_shock]

"Again, smarter than some people." Miguel laughed, too. "Or people are just braver."

He frowned. "Hm. You know, last time all this happened, Rosa swore she was heading to Aruba as soon as classes were over, or maybe even the week before. If she comes back from this case with tan lines, I'll be really shocking upset."

"I doubt she would the that sneaky. But I guess we will see whenever she gets back" Dwight mused. "Speaking of which, any word from her yet? Any cryptic message to go kidnap the Pope or anything?"

[what_the_shock]

"Nothing yet," Miguel said. "Christmas I start texting, New Year's I kidnap the pope. Decided doing that on Christmas might be a little too mean."

"OH you are all heart there" Dwight said sarcastically but with a slight grin.

"That's me," Miguel said. "Religiously sensitive."
