The Perk, Monday morning

Jon was feeling much better today, and only looking his standard amount of unslept. He was, at least, pleased to be able to get out of the flat. So he was at the Perk, getting his tea and settling in with his phone. Mostly to browse about and order as many awful, real books as he could in case the yule log thing or something like it were to happen again.

"You're certainly looking the most well-rested I have seen you in quite a while," Dwight said as he turned from the counter with an extra large coffee in hand. "Good to see you out and about again," he added, giving Jon a friendly nod.

Jon nodded back. "I feel better," he admitted. "You're doing well, I hope."

"Yeah been good. Had to cut the morning walk short today... Snoopy didnt much care for all the chickens around" Dwight said with a laugh as he shook his head. "Honestly, I spent more time trying to keep him away from the birds than actually walking."

"They are a little...well, I don't see what's so Christmassy about them, and they're very..." small, feathery, weird? "...chickens."

"Ah, I think it's more the idea of people giving animals clothes and such during the winter" Dwight said thoughtfully. "We used to have animals when I was younger. We had special capes and blankets for the horse when it got cold and I remember putting what looked like PJs on the goats and sheet when it would snow. So think it's more the concept/tradition of putting clothes on animals in the winder time."

"Please tell me there's an actual function for it," Jon said. "I can't understand why anybody would dress up farm animals."

...No, actually, he could absolutely see Martin putting a hat on a cow. He wasn't going to think about that too much.

"Well, for the horses and goats and sheep yeah, it helps keep them warmer in the cold weather. Especially if they have just been sheered or they are babies or something" Dwight said with a shrug. "But the chickens? That I think is just cuz someone somewhere thought it was cute."

"And apparently they take to it better than cats," Jon noted. "At least, I haven't seen anyone walking about with their arms and face sliced up."

"Yeah, I don't think I'd be brave enough to out anything on a cat other than a collar" Dwight agreed with a nod. "And even that is pushing luck with some cats!"

"Exactly," Jon agreed. "Although if we see cats in Christmas sweaters, I'm definitely taking pictures. From a good distance."

"If it was any cat I have ever know, you would have all of three minutes before any hat, sweater, or anything else was completely shredded," Dwight said with an amused chuckle.

"It depends on how much energy they're willing to expend," Jon pointed out.

"Very true. I've seen cat put up with quite a lot before finally completely losing it."

"It all depends on whether their annoyance outweighs their laziness," Jon said.
