Rey's warehouse- Friday afternoon

Rey hated the cold, but she mostly dealt with that quietly. (Aside from having a boyfriend who hated the cold more and feeling like she could bitch to him without judgment.)

But today the warehouse was freezing, and Rey was trying to figure out if there was maybe a "scorching hot sun" setting on the course's weather controls, or otherwise she might have to try doing it in the too-big coat she was refusing to take off right now.


[Idk why my office doesn't get heat, the vents are open and my toes are freezing. Anyway, open!]

Anakin popped in after his class. "Rey?"

"Hi. Is there a heat setting on the weather controls?"

Since she only ended up training in the miserable cold ones.

"There should be," Anakin said, heading over to one of the fake trees with a frown and popping open its hidden panel.

[thatwaslucky]

"Apparently we've been using the cold ones too much," Rey said lightly.

Anakin laughed. "Have we?"

[thatwaslucky]

"I am usually doing this in snow and rain," Rey pointed out. "Heat I was already used to."

[sith_happened]

"That makes sense," Anakin said, reaching into his pocket for a hydrospanner to tweak the parameters.

"There are times I miss certain things from Jakku."

Guess. Wild guess.

"Is one of them the warmth?" Anakin asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"Most of it is the warmth. Which only lasted until sundown, of course," she said.

[sith_happened]

"Our house was freezing at night," Anakin admitted.

[thatwaslucky]

"You would think household heating elements would be more popular!" Rey said. "I stayed places where there was nothing and you just hoped you closed up enough at night. Once I got into the AT-AT it was better, but I still needed a generator."

Anakin nodded. "The desert is no joke once the sun goes down," he said, focusing on the mechanics in front of him. "I think I see where the problem is," he muttered, glaring at wiring.

"Easy fix?" Rey asked hopefully. If it wasn't, between the two of them they still had this down.

"I think so," Anakin said. "C'mere and give me your opinion, too."

Rey stood beside him, looking in at it. "Oh, that's simple enough. I'd say that's five to ten minutes with the right tools."

Anakin handed over the hydrospanner. "Give it a shot."

[thatwaslucky]

"You know I do this for a living, right?" Rey teased, taking it.

[sith_happened]

Anakin laughed. "I do," he said, "but I want to see if you're up to my standards."

[thatwaslucky]

"I work on the Falcon, after it spent years sitting dormant in a desert. This is nothing," she told him.

Anakin ran his fingers through his hair, still grinning. "That's fair."

Rey got quiet for a minute as she worked, finally pulling back with a, "Try it now."

Anakin flipped the switch and the machine made a happy little humming sound.

"So far, so good."

Did Rey look relieved? Rey was relieved. "Can we have training under the heat this week?"

"Absolutely," said the other cold wimp.
