Luke's Diner, Saturday

[what_the_shock]

Miguel dragged himself out of bed and into work, swinging across the buildings on the way to wake himself up. Which meant he got to the diner rather wind-blown and cold. But awake!

He was still heading straight for the coffee.

"We should probably do hot winter things, right?"

The cook passed him the specials board.

Beef stew
Chicken pot pie
Huevos rancheros

It really was too cold to be out and about that early in the morning. But the unthinkable had happened. Dwight had let himself run out of coffee at the shop. And if he was going to brace the frigid trek to the other side of the island for some coffee he was going to get some good food out of it too and hit up the diner. And so there he was, hurriedly running in and stomping the snow off his boots as he looked over to the counter.

"Morning, Miguel" he said as he walked in finally. "Hope that coffee pot is good and fired up!"

Miguel gave him a Look. "You expect otherwise?" He went to pour Dwight a cup, then brought it over along with cream and sugar containers. "How's your week been?"

"Well, the apartment somehow managed to run out of coffee so... ya never know" he said with a grin and a nod of thanks. "And all in all, its been a pretty good week."

Dwight was about to say something about it being a nice change from the last month or so of insanity but knew better than to let that thought go anywhere past his own mind.

"What about you and Rosa?"

Miguel's look turned horrified. "Don't even joke about that! If the island ever gets rid of coffee, I'm out of here."

He shrugged. "We're fine. Thursday was weird. How's the building for Amaya going?"

"yeah Thursday had some crazy tones... But still kinda mild for Fandom."Dwight agreed with a nod.

"And finally getting started on the building aspect of that project. Took a few days to demo the old counters get everything cleaned up. Should be able to really get into things after the weekend."

[what_the_shock]

Miguel nodded. "What can I get you today?"

Dwight considered the options for a moment. "Let's go with the Huevos rancheros" he said with a nod. "I hear they are a Miguel specialty."

Miguel snorted. "Hey, the cook makes them. He's pretty good, too." He put in the order. "I can head back to do it if you'd rather, though."

"Eh, cook's good enough for you, he's good enough for me" Dwight said with as shrug. "Just ready for a good meal I dont have to cook myself right now."

Cuz the cooking classes were paying off but it was still a bit more work than he was used to when cooking multiple meals a day. So, ya know... good excuse to be lazy with the cooking this morning.

"It's all in the salsa." Miguel put the order up for the cook and went back to his own coffee. "We'll get you cooking one of these days. How's class going?"

"Will have to get some tips from you then," Dwight said with a grin. "Can always use a good salsa for so many things."

Dwight took a moment pause before adding "I've been cooking a lot more than I had... and haven't set the apartment on fire so, I count that as a positive. Baby steps you know."

"No catastrophes is kind of the bare minimum, you know that, right?"

"And I will gladly take it" Dwight said. "I am under no delusions of how good I am around the kitchen. Classes are helping but I know I got a ways to go. I will gladly celebrate every little victory though along the way"

Miguel rolled his eyes. "Whatever. And PE?"

[alwaysonguard]

"PE is going well" Dwight said with an appreciative grin. "Had a good teacher vs student basketball game last class so that was a lot of fun for everyone I think."

"Are there even enough students to make up the weight of you two?" Miguel asked, laughing.

[alwaysonguard]

"Ha, not even close. There's only four of them" Dwight said with a chuckle of his own. "we do have a former high school VIP in the class. And one of the students can teleport. So... yeah, they are not totally out matched" Dwight added with a slight shrug. Though... the other two students definitely off set the upper hand the others provided if he was going to be honest.

"Maybe what they need is a leader to organize them." Miguel smirked.
