Luke's Diner, Saturday

[what_the_shock]

Miguel might be used to the cold, and his UMF protected against extremes (it was getting a good winter workout), but that didn't mean he had to like it.

It was possible his coffee this morning was spiked.

Okay, it was spiked with shots of espresso. But still!

He was in the mood for hot.

"Hey, Miguel," Dwight said as he ducked in out of the cold and wet nastiness outside and made his way to the counter, and took a seat. "How's it going?"

"Cold." Miguel went to get Dwight coffee. "How about you?"

"Same," Dwight replied with a nod of thanks for the coffee. "Had come by cuz a nice burger and fries sounded good, but seeing the specials for today... gotta go with a double order of those wings" he said with a slight smirk.

"Wings it is." Miguel grinned and put in the order. "Want anything except for coffee?"

He took a brief detour to drink his own. "Had a good week?"

"Coffee is fine for now, thanks."

Dwight took a moment to enjoy a drink of his own and then pulled his phone out of his pocket and started flipping through it.

"So, was working on trying to move the pics off my phone and onto my new laptop... yes yes hold your shock I do have a laptop now.... and guess what I found as I was looking through the pics?"

He tapped the screen and then set the phone on the counter and slid it towards Miguel. On the screen was one of the photos from their road trip a while back.

"Look familiar?" he asked with a smirk

Miguel glanced at it and snorted. "Stuffing our faces. That was pretty good barbecue, though."

"It was, nothing like the good ole wings right here on the island" Dwight said with a laugh.

[what_the_shock]

"I'll tell the cook he's got standards to meet."

The cook yelled huffily from the back that he exceeded all necessary standards, thank you.

Was that Rosa coming into the diner and having a seat at the counter with a bag of take-out from the sushi place?

Yes, yes it was.

She just thought she was hilarious this week.

Miguel gave her a look. "Really? Cold food in this weather?"

That was what he took issue with?

"I wanted sushi." Rosa shrugged a shoulder, as she set out her food from the bag. "It's not even that cold out."

Well, yeah. It wasn't like he was going to make sushi, so if she wanted it, she'd have to bring her own.

"It is definitely that cold out." Miguel grinned. "But if you just couldn't wait to see my face, I guess you had to brave it anyway."

"Again," Rosa said, glancing up from the tray as she popped off the lid, "not that cold. And you make better coffee."

"Yeah?" Miguel raised an eyebrow at her, sipping his own. "Who says I'm sharing?"

"....your job?" Rosa suggested, with a point of her finger toward the menu.

"Also," she added as she plucked up a roll with the chopsticks with the other hand, "I'll just change the locks before your shift ends if you don't."

"Window," Miguel pointed out. "And talons."

He did, however, go to get her a cup of coffee.

"Fierce attack guard dog," Rosa counter--

--okay, no, not even Rosa could keep a straight face on that one.

She couldn't even be mad, because that would honestly be her solution, too, only just without the talons.

Miguel laughed. "Yeah, so fierce." He slid the coffee over to her. "Did you want anything to go with your sushi, or did you just come for the company?"
