Furnado Animal Shelter; Monday [02/07].
When Sakaki came into the shelter for her shift that day, she found that the front counter was covered in stacks of containers that had a very distinct aroma wafting from them, strong enough to hit her like a wall and make her immediately cringe back, and, after a very long time of convincing herself to be brave enough to do so, she slowly approached to pick up one of the containers to open it up and see what was inside.
She instantly recoiled, and wondered why anyone would just leave boxes of fish on the counter like that, but that she realized that all the cats had not been stalking the perimeters in a potential pre-emptive strike against her, but was instead, planning a strike on the boxes instead.
"Enjoy your meal," she said, dully reading the words written on the inside of the containers, blinked, and then turned toward the cats.
Set the box down and waiting fore them to start coming out to investigate and, eventually, start nibbling.
Sakaki needed several moments to recover from the wave of cuteness that sent over her before she went to get the other boxes and set them all out, too, and, in no time, yes, the place smelled like fish, but she was surrounded by cats happily eating individually packaged feasts and it was quite possibly one of the best days of her entire life.
Eventually, though, a thought struck her, and she managed to remember how to move again as she went toward the back of the shelter toward the fish tanks with one of the extra boxes.
"Ano...," she started, uncertainly, not knowing whether she should tap on the glass to get his attention, "Mr. Sidon, sir? Would you...would you also like one?"
He...he probably liked to eat fish, too, right? She simultaniously felt bad offering him one and not offering him one, but, either way, his enthusiastic reception of the meal was terrifying and sent Sakaki retreating back to the counter as soon as she possibly could escape.
