Fix&Clean Shop- Tuesday Morning
Dwight had been keeping busy over the holiday weekend even though he hadn't been to Amaya's forge in a few days. He had some things to take care of and a little side project of his own that was finally finished. Standing back and admiring his handy work he smiled.
"Think it turned out pretty good. What do you think boy?" he asked the pup running around the shop chasing some of the wood shavings on the floor. Snoopy stopped and looked up at him with a happy bark before going back to his more important task of catching that wood shaving.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence there" Dwight said with a laugh. "I think we need to get you upstairs though before you get into something you shouldn't." Dwight shook his head with a sig as he scooped up the tiny pup and headed to the apartment upstairs.
When he came back a short time later, Dwight pulled out his phone and called Amaya. Not having her pick up was normal seeing how noisy the forge was most of the time. So, he simply left a voicemail asking her to come by if she had the chance today to see a new project he had just finished working on. And with the voice mail sent he started making himself busy with random things around the shop, trying to ignore that feeling that was building inside... had to just be something he ate that morning. It definitely wouldn't be nerves or anything. There was no reason to be nervous or excited about Amaya coming to check out this project... none at all.. so it had to be something else entirely...
(post and shop are open! Expecting one but anyone else can stop by before or after XD)

She was going to head over a bit later than when she noticed the voicemail, though, but that was entirely practical, as she was still doing some work on that new hilt, and, well, leaving the shop and putting out the forge was a whole process and pretty much would mean she'd be done for the day, so she was going to get the most out of her time before heading on over to Dwight's shop.
And....well, it did skirt dangerously close to having to mention the Flower Situation, but maybe he'd also have some perspective on those mystery flowers, too. She actually did feel kind of bad about it, and it would be nice if she could figure out who they were really meant for before they started to turn...
But first things first. "Hey, there, Dwight," Amaya greeted as she entered the shop, lifting a hand in a wave. "What's this I hear about about a project?"
no subject
"Ah just finished up something I had been working on using some more of the wood from that old counter of yours. Figured out a way to use some of the smaller scrap pieces that are too small to make any axe or sword handles for you."
Here he paused for some dramatic effect and gave her a grin as he nodded over towards the work bench where something was sitting there covered by a sheet.
"Wanted to get your opinion on how it turned out. See if it's worth anything or if it's something I should crank out a few more of."
And with that Dwight pulled off the sheet revealing a set of rustic hanging planters sitting there.

"Could probably use more spikes," she offered, because, hey! Look at who could be self-referetial! "But those are pretty good! You really cobbled those together out of the old counter?"
She moved closer to the worktable, gesturing to them with an unspoken question in her glance if it was alright if she were to pick one up for a closer inspection.

He shook his head with a slight chuckle and nodded. "Feel free, I'd like to know what you think of the craftsmanship. All assembled with pins and dovetails. No glue so its safe for any plants. Also that's all natural wood grain too. A simple sealant but no stains... again, to keep the plants as healthy as possible."
Dwight watched as Amaya inspected the planters because he was still a bit nervous about the final part of the reveal that he needed to make to her and he was suddenly feeling a bit uneasy about how it would be recieved.
no subject
"This is some mighty fine work you've got here, Dwight," she commented, as she finally held it up as if imagining exactly how it might hang. "Not that I'm surprised, of course. Might have to ask you to whip a few of these for myself, actually, I think I know just the place in the greenhouse where a couple of these might work particularly well."
no subject
"Figured something... a bit more permanent was probably more up your alley. And would be a way to keep some of the old forge setup around too" he added with a grin. And then he fell silent, waiting to see Amaya's reaction to all that.

And, with that, she lowered the planter to turn toward what the other part of it was. "Oh! Snapdragons! The," normal!, "Earth kind! Great choice, those'll sit inside of one of these nicely, I should think! And it's a good thing the spots I had in mind are away from my others ones; they tend to get a little territorial, and have torn up any others ones I've tried to put in even remotely close to them! The elevation should help with that, unless it turns out they've been able to fly this whole time, too!"
Honestly, she wouldn't put it past them, though she supposed the whole 'being stuck in the dirt' part should help with that.

Dwight watched her for a few minutes and then gave her a questioning look. "Normal Earth Snapdragons? What? There are other types that are different for you back home?" Dwight had to admit he was very intrigued. He had somewhat of a green thumb, more so for wildcrafting and living off the land but the whole gardening aspect of things was not totally lost on him either and so, of course, he was interested.

"So they like actually snap and bite? Are all of the plants and flowers back in Daventry that... um.... dangerous?" He had always thought it would be cool to see what things were like back where Amaya was from but... this wasn't something he had expected. "Kinda glad I got you regular safe snapdragons this time and normal innocent roses."

"Well, that sounds like a recipe for disaster with an invasive species of plant" Dwight said with a bit of an eyebrow raise "Though I admit I am very curious myself, so I can't say I would have been able to pass them up myself."
There was a moment pause before Dwight continued to add "I think Daventry sounds like a great place, as far as the flora and fauna variety goes. Sounds really interesting."
no subject
"The flora, maybe," Amaya allowed, "but the fauna? Well. That there's a different story. But it's nice enough, I suppose. Things were getting a bit too quiet there for my tastes; quiet towns don't pay the bills. The squirrels here are singificantly nosier, but I'll take gremlins over goblins any day of the week, and metal roses and throwing stars over endless replacements for spears that aren't even used for anything, as well!"
Honestly, how the Daventry Guard went through so many spears was well beyond any rhyme, reason, or logic.
But finishing out that particular ramble, Amaya hesitated a moment, as if testing the weight on a decision, eyeing Dwight somewhat speculatively all the while. It certainly was a risk to mention it, but, well, fortune did favor the bold...
"Speaking of roses," she said, that word seemingly spoken with enough distaste that her lip curled a little in a faint snarl with a wrinkling of her nose, and she sighed, "but you would't have happened to have heard anything about anyone missing a bunch of them from yesterday, by chance, would you? I'm pretty sure some got delivered to my place by accident, but they left no indication of who they were for or who they were from, so it's going to be quite the challenging figuring out where they're supposed to go before they start withering away."
no subject
Look Amaya. Dwight was trying here. He knew you probably didn't want to talk about it and deal with those "messy" feelings and all that. But you brought it up, so he wasn't going to let you off the hook that easy.
no subject
"Nope!" said Amaya. Firmly. Possibly a little cheerfully. "Just the one set, and those clearly weren't for me! Boy, they must have been getting all the deliveries wrong this year, I guess that's what they get for enlisting squirrels....or gremlins...or whoever is actually in charge of delivering those things. Probably the moose! That'd actually explain a lot!"
no subject
"Weeell... you at least got one of my orders" Dwight offered. And then came a sigh and a bit of a "for the love of..." look as he shook his head and looked at Amaya squarely. "Amaya, Ithose flowers also. They are yours. Which is a good thing evidently since you didn't seem to get any other orders that anyone would have sent you for some strange reason."
no subject
Because if those other ones had been from him...
"That moose," she concluded, staunchly, with a shake of her head, "I swear, he's becoming a real problem. Someone ought to talk to him, or better yet, scrap the whole flower idea all together, avoid all these muddled mix-ups in the first place!"
no subject
You were very much getting a look right now, Amaya. Dwight wouldn't push it much more but he also wasn't about to let you off the hook that easily!
no subject
But Amaya couldn't just say any of that. She could, however, give Dwight a look that was half-withering, half-pleading, half-disconserted (yes, she was squeezing three halves into one look, just try and stop her), before finally just muttering, "Well, at least the money went to a good cause for the school."
no subject
And with that, the mystery and discussion surrounding the roses and all was seemingly forgotten as Dwight shifted to a less problematic topic.
"And you at least have some no biting snapdragons to find a good home for and some planters to set up. Much better than any mushy holiday flowers right?"
no subject
....she should honestly be grateful that that's all it swayed him to think, considering this place!
So with that, she looked to the planters again and would at least acquiesce this much, "They are very nice planters, Dwight, and good flowers to go with, as well, so...thank you."
See, Dwight? See how she did that? Saying thank you by just using the bloody words??
