Fandom Island Museum, Thursday Daytime

Third week in a row and he'd neither been late nor sacked. Course it probably helped he only had to work one day a week but Steven was still firmly placing this in the win column.

He sat behind the front visitor desk with yet another of Blathers's volumes on the exhibits. This time he was trying to find anything he could about incidents of people turning into children. It was taking a while because he was looking under the books for C, as in Child, and not W as in Weetiny.

It was a little later when Connor walked into the Museum, several bags from his handwavey trip to T&C for some supplies. On his way to the back office he had claimed for the time being, Connor stopped at the desk and gave Steven a nod.

"Morning mate. How've things been?"

"All right," Steven said. He put the book aside to give Connor his attention. "Yourself? How's the island treating you?"

"This place is sure something, I'll give it that" Connor replied. "Though I am somewhat disappointed and also relieved that the Kraken thing turned out to be just a drill."

"At least it wasn't a day either of us were working," Steven said. "Could go home and back to sleep. I did anyway. You?"

"Yeah got a little bit. Rexy was awake and getting into mischief, and he wasn't too happy about having to be in the carrier for all that mess either," Connor said shaking his head. "But yeah, could have been worse. Definitely."

"Yeah I left my fish at home," Steven said. "I mean if the whole place flooded or something they'd be more all right than the rest of us, I figure."

"Good thinking there mate" Connor said with a nod. "Not like fish can raise much of a ruckus one way or the other right?"

"Plus they're goldfish," Steven agreed. "Not exactly like they'd be helpful in battle. Not even big enough to be used as bait, really."
