Fandom Island Museum, Thursday Daytime
Research had been done (with Connor's help) and so when Steven settled in for work there were fliers and posters available which provided information on fish and insects whose behavior proved that the idea of pairings of all genders did, in fact, happen in nature.
Not all of the examples listed were available to view in the museum, but there were still more than Steven would've expected. Regardless, it was educational and in honor of Pride.
Steven sat in his usual spot behind the welcome desk. He flipped through the exhibit listings to make sure he hadn't missed any which needed to be called out for the occasion.

So she decided to stop by the museum, taking a quick break from work and making a quick trip to the bakery for a selection of vegan pastries on the way so she could tell Steven what new information she had been able to get in their research.
“Hi,” she smiled brightly as she approached, "I hope you don't mind me stopping by, I brought vegan pastries," she offered by way of a bribe as she held out the box to him.

As such, she'd made herself presentable (that is, her usual standard of elegant-to-overdressed) after blacksmithing class and made her way down to where Steven had directed her, and midday found her poking in curiously. "Afternoon, Steven."

"Irene! Hello! Not dreaming, am I?"
Yep, he'd said that last part out loud. Hadn't meant to but there they were.

Couldn't rule out the island doing a thing, you know. Though that'd be kind of a new one?
"Hello."

"Hello," Steven said. "Um, did you want to see Blathers? He's asleep but we can always wake him."

Though a little part of Irene was going to be sad to miss the opportunity to chat with a talking bird. Perhaps another, later time.

Fish, generally, she could take or leave.

A position she didn't often find herself in, interestingly enough.

Steven motioned towards the rooms of the museum dedicated to the insect displays. "Right this way then."

"My experience most of the unpleasant things I've dealt with at work is people not treating the displays properly," Steven said. "Not here, though. My last job. People would leave rubbish about and the like. Suppose there's worse things to have happen."
Being attacked by a jackal, for instance.
