Drunk and Bored club, Saturday night on the beach

Miguel still had beer with him tonight, but also a bottle of rosé and a big bottle of good gin.

Hey, it was a national holiday (or two).

There was a bonfire to hopefully keep the insects away, and there was drink. What else did you need for a Drunk and Bored club?

Anybody and everybody had been invited, and if nobody came, hey - Miguel would have a lot of gin.

Another D&B night sounded like just the thing Rosa needed to finish out an already excellent week of totally messing with some old guy's sad and pathetic life.

And, yes, for the record, she knew whose old guy it was pretty much before she started digging up his info. But she wasn't going to let that spoil her fun.

She did, of course, bring some of the worst beer she could find and made up for it with an exceptionally good whiskey. That was her thing.

Miguel toasted her with his gin. "I miss anything fun today?"

Rosa shrugged a little. "Anna actually managed to catch her own tail finally, and was so confused by it she spent the rest of the day walking around looking like an entire new dimension had opened up right in front of her very eyes. Other than that? Pretty normal."

Nothing to really report on the old man stuff yet; with a slow build, all the really fun stuff would come later.

"how about you? How as the diner?"

"Don't even ask," Miguel said, rolling his eyes. "They were throwing corn."

"Like the kernels?" asked Rosa, in bold defiance of the request specifically not to, but who could blame her? "Or whole entire ears?"

"You asked," Miguel accused.

"Ears."

Spotting Rosa, Marc gave a silent nod of greeting.

And Rosa, naturally, responded in kind, a lift of her chin preceding a swig of her terrible beer.

Another nod as Marc helped himself to some of his rum. It was good to be amongst people who understood words were overrated.

Back home it was Puerto Rican pride weekend. Marc wasn't Puerto Rican but you never knew who in Drunk & Bored was. Plus who needed an excuse to drink rum? So he brought a bottle of that this week for anyone who felt like having any.

Miguel toasted him with the gin. "Trade?"

"That's the point, right?" Marc replied. He offered the bottle to Miguel. "How's it going?"

"Work was weird, but no worse than usual." Miguel took the rum and passed over the gin. "What about you?"

Marc helped himself to the gin and thus guaranteed that Steven would be refusing to take over the body until both it and the rum were well out of the system. "Long week. Say, you do tech, right? How can a guy listen to or watch a Cubs game around here?"

Marc's priorities were, as always, rock solid.

"...TV?" Miguel guessed.

Look, he was a scientist, not a broadcaster!
